Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7 NLT

God’s timeline differs from ours. How could it not? He brought time and existence into being. Second Peter 3:8 says, “But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.”

That’s all fine until we experience what we think is an urgent need. When we see other people succeeding while we toil in obscurity, it feels like God has fallen asleep at the wheel. God can be as timeless as He wants as long as it doesn’t mess up our promotion schedule, right? Let’s put everything into perspective.

All time, from when God spoke light into existence to now, is a blip on the line of eternity. Everything that has happened is like less than a second of someone’s life span, if that second was very busy and if the person lived forever.

In light of eternity, does it matter who looks like they’re prospering when their life is about to end? Real success isn’t measured like that. Real success is knowing God, relaxing in His presence, and waiting for the blessings He’s promised us after this life is over.

Prayer: Lord, help me live according to Your schedule and wait on You to act as You see fit.
