But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
This verse can be a tremendous source of comfort to you in times when the devil, the enemy of your soul, is attacking you. The Lord wants you to know in no uncertain terms that he won’t leave you to face the enemy on your own, but is certain to be with you and empower you, so that you’ll have the strength to resist the devil. And God will protect you from him.
Elsewhere in the Bible, God promises, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). He won’t always flee the instant you first stand up to him. You may have to steadfastly resist the enemy for some time, but eventually he will buckle under the pressure of the unrelenting power of God, turn, and flee.
The Bible assures you: “God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). The enemy is always seeking to tempt you to do evil, to choose the selfish path, but God has promised to be faithful to strengthen you to help you resist him. And He is more than able to help you emerge victorious.
