But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever was done there, he was the one who did it. Genesis 39:21-22 ESV
The worst possible losses and suffering hit Joseph. Even when life seemed to be working out as well as it could under the circumstances, he soon found himself the victim of yet another major injustice. Locked away in prison, Joseph remained faithful to the Lord and served well among his fellow inmates. Even though he’d been slandered and mistreated, he continued to be honorable and just. He carried out his responsibilities with skill and dedication, even if he couldn’t see how things would work out in the future.
Your circumstances don’t tell the whole story of God’s presence and faithfulness. Even a time of affliction and injustice can become an opportunity for God to work in your favor. Your faithfulness today will go a long way toward preparing you for the future, where circumstances may change, and God’s power will be on full display.
