Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV
Most of us don’t like to think about it, but in this life we will most certainly suffer pain, loss, regret, and sadness—sometimes all at once over one particularly difficult life event. In times such as those, it’s always good to have close friend to lend an ear and helpful words of advice and encouragement.
As followers of Christ, each of us has the best friend of all in the person of our heavenly Father. He is with us always and promises to hear us and comfort us when we face even the worst of troubles in this life.
God freely offers us compassion and comfort whenever we need them. All we need to do is press in closer to Him, share our hearts with Him, and then rest in Him as He works to rescue us.
Prayer: Loving heavenly Father, thank You for Your heart of compassion for those You call your own. Thank You for comforting me during difficult times. Help me to pay that compassion and comfort forward when You bring me people who are going through difficulties.
