Psalm 8:3-4, “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visits him”
____________

How much does God Love and care for us? The Bible succinctly assures us the Creator of the universe cared so much that He came seeking after us. God, our Creator is also our Good Shepherd, whose love for us rises far above the level of our human affection, and that Good Shepherd calls His sheep by name (John 10:3), just as He has a name for each of the countless stars in the sky (Isaiah 40:26). An astronomer would tell you the universe contains trillions of stars spread out across the vast expanse and the most distant galaxies are billions of light years away. Incomprehensible figures like that make many people conclude that it’s impossible to believe the Bible, for the earth and humans, seem so utterly insignificant. However, these mind boggling dimensions need not shake our faith. Instead, they should increase our awe as we ponder the message of His divine grace. In a world of loneliness, despair, and rejection, the Bible offers everyone hope, peace, joy and encouragement. In the words given to a blind beggar named Bartimaeus … Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee (Mark 10:49). Yes, the Creator loves and cares immensely for us, for if He didn’t, He wouldn’t have sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from our sin.
____________

The author of Psalm 8, marvels at God’s creation and mankind’s smallness, and then breaks out in praise for God’s greatness and care for us. To think that the Creator who made and upholds all this immensity has focused His redemptive love on tiny creatures like us and sinful creatures at that! He cherishes us individually as if each one were the sole object of His fatherly attention. Additionally, the Bible tells us that the heavenly Father intimately understands each of His children. He knows their every thought and emotion, and is “acquainted with all [their] ways” (Psalm 139:3). From morning until night He gives personal attention to all their circumstances. Overwhelmed by this glorious reality, the psalmist then exclaimed in amazement, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.” It’s amazing, as Paul testified, that Christ loved me and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20). Instead of shaking our faith, the findings of astronomy should fill our souls with wonder and praise, knowing that God truly cares for us. So my friend:

(1) Have you responded to God’s sacrificial love with faith and accepted His invitation to everlasting life, forgiveness, and peace?

(2) If not, please carefully consider this - Jesus Christ, the creator of the galaxies, visited our world to pay the penalty for our sin and opened the way to friendship, fellowship and eternal life with Him. Today and every day, He stands ready to bring healing and wholeness to your deeply wounded spirits.

(3) If you have not responded to God’s Love, I would urge you to accept His precious gift of salvation. Trust Jesus Christ with your life and your eternity.
__________

The immensity of God’s creation should remind us of the immensity of God’s love. Thus, the God who made the firmament, the One who made the deepest sea, the God who put the stars in place is the God who cares for you. Thus, in creation we see God’s hand; in Redemption we see His heart.
