And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:25 NLT
You’ve probably heard at least one of your Christian brothers say something like, “I don’t need to go to church to be a Christian!” Maybe you’ve thought or said something like that yourself.
But that’s not sound thinking. Not at all!
Consider this: The phrase “one another” appears dozens of times in the New Testament alone. Christians are enjoined to be devoted to one another, to live in harmony with one another, to love one another, to accept one another, and to greet one another—and that’s just in the book of Romans!
It’s probably safe to say that no one has figured out how to do those “one anothers” without meeting together regularly.
God has designed the Christian faith so that we need one another, and not just so we can spend quality time with like-minded people. We are to hold one another accountable, encourage one another, and pray for one another.
So don’t neglect to meet together regularly with other believers.
Prayer: Lord, You desire that those You’ve saved spend time with one another so they can be strengthened and encouraged. Never let me forget how important it is that I get myself to church regularly so that I can worship and fellowship with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
