these are the words that Jesus said to alot of people after he healed them, or after he forgave the sins of some while he was walking on the earth. But clearly it is impossible for any man except for Christ to truly live a sinless life. Why would Jesus say this to others if He as God knew that as long as we are in this body and living in this current age that we can't not sin?

Although we cannot be totally sinless we can strive to avoid sin.

Jesus made His holy standard known in which no sin is acceptable.

He wants us to avoid sin and set the standard we should strive for.

The perfect Life....

But clearly it is impossible for any man except for Christ to truly live a sinless life.
Joh 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Luk 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luk 13:4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
Luk 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

First off, it is possible to not sin.................Bible says so...and if the Word says so.. then it's so.. and it is us that need to get in line with the Word.

The word says if we walk in the spirit we will not fulfill the lust and desires of the flesh... Be ye perfect as your heavenly father is perfect..

Sin is a violation of light..............Violating what you know to be right.. That is sin, or something you do that is not of faith.... like looking both ways before stealing that money on the counter.

You can stop yourself from doing something you know to be wrong... Like the Women that was sleeping around.. Jesus said.. go, and sin no more... (Stop sleeping around)

Does that mean we don't sin??

Not even close.............. but sin, and violation of light can be two different things.... It's a heart action.... Doing something God is not happy with does not always make it sin... and does not make you not right with God...

King Asa....................

This king.......... died of some complications with his feet.... God mentioned in his word that King Asa did not even seek him about it... but instead went to his own doctors.....
Why would King Asa do that??

2Ch 16:12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.

King Asa, paid his way out of a situation, and used money to avoid conflict.... God was not real happy with that also...

King Asa, left the High places standing (other god's worship) and You better believe God was not all smiles after that.....

but something about King Asa was right with God.... and it was not counted against him...... all the days of King Asa's life....

1Ki 15:14 But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

God said King Asa's heart was perfect toward him, and he was right with God..... why? Because King Asa severed God with a whole heart with the light he was given... that is why...

You and I could have sat back and watched King Asa, and just judged him as unfaithful.... and dumb for not believing God for his feet.... But God did not see the outside... but the inside...

Amaziah (King Amaziah)

Now this guy... did everything right............. On the outside, it looked like he had it together......... but what did God say about that???

2Ch 25:2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

So, before we say it's impossible not to sin......... Lets say instead, that we have a whole lot more to learn about this, and how God actually does look at things....

Jesus Is Lord.

I would agree that we have not gotten rid of sin on the earth yet.
But we do have to make 1 John 5:18 fit.

1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Ok,first the "one" born of God does not sin. This "one" the wicked one can't touch,so that can't be me because I sin and I am in the world and we know Satan is the god of this world.I can get sick so it's obvious that the the wicked one can touch me.

So if it does not mean us what or who could it mean?
I have been studying this and believe I may have an answer but I would like to see what everyone else thinks.

Some preaches have told me that if I sin I am not born of God until I repent but I can easily rebut that.

Yes it can mean us Brother.. I outlined some of this in my upper post..

We also have access to Jesus that fixes sin....Meaning, Satan has nothing on us..

1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

No sin, No wicked one....... (Giving him place and authority to attack) We still have to by faith stand when the flood does come.... but we can take away Satan's Right to get us..

1 John 5:18
This literally means in the Greek.... One who constantly practices sin... Some translations note that... Being born again, we have a witness not to commit adultery, and do many things the world and unsaved don't even think twice about... That ability to walk away is in us for God always makes a way out..
.
NLT
1Jn 5:18 We know that those who have become part of God's family do not make a practice of sinning, for God's Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot get his hands on them.

AMP
1Jn 5:18 We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ's divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him].

MSG
1Jn 5:18 We know that none of the God-begotten makes a practice of sin--fatal sin.

CEV
1Jn 5:18 We are sure that God's children do not keep on sinning.

You get the point.... I clearly define the Heart condition as it relates to our standing with God.... in my upper post..

This literally means in the Greek.... One who constantly practices sin.
A interlinear shows the Greek hamartanó
Strong's # 264 to miss the mark, do wrong, sin

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

An interlinear reads like this:and not{kia ou} is he able {dunatai}to sin{amartanein}.

If it's means us then we are not able to sin.
We can't have it both ways right?

Sinneth Not..

If it's means us then we are not able to sin.
We can't have it both ways right?
That is a good question..... we have scripture that says we do sin......
This one says we sin not, if born of God.... so.........

and other translations found the Greek to mean.. "Practice sin"

Are we smarter than the other translations by staying with the KJV..??

The NASEC for the sinneth "NOT" can mean refrain from...incessantly..... Keep right..............

seems like far reaching to get want you want out of it though....

If we look at what the end result is..... The Wicked one (Satan) touches them not.. because of no sin... And in Jesus, and being forgiven the Wicked one does not have occasion to get at us... (Through sin, or giving Him a place.. we know a thief does not need a reason to steal, or attempt it. No weapon formed against us shall prosper.. (Isa 54:17).. but we know weapons are formed...

and look at..
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The nature of God, and Jesus that keeps us clean from sin.... that the new nature would not practice sin "knowingly"

Then it might make sense and come in line with the rest of the Word that says we do sin and have a advocate... and found not guilty..

Clark **note... I don't care for commentary... from anybody.. but Clark made the most sense out of several I read.. and Not that I agree with him...
Clark
the devil, toucheth him not - finds nothing of his own nature in him on which he can work, Christ dwelling in his heart by faith.
If you want to take the Greek for it's straight meaning... then I can't find fault for that.... but it's hard to make the verse make sense with everything else..

This is what "I" want out of it.:
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I quoted from the KJV version because it agrees with the actual Greek and I like the old English and it has no copyright.

This is the actual Greek, check it out
An interlinear reads like this:and not{kia ou} is he able {dunatai}to sin{amartanein}.
Any translation that does not carry the true meaning is not helpful.(why do they have copyrights on Gods word).

No weapon formed against us shall prosper.. (Isa 54:17).. but we know weapons are formed...
Good point.

1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
I think this is a key to the answer and this action would provide a hedge but I could still walk out from it so it's not "and not is he able to sin" like the actual Greek.

If you want to take the Greek for it's straight meaning... then I can't find fault for that.... but it's hard to make the verse make sense with everything else..
If it's hard then let's just say so,that does not make it impossible.
Just like sin no more.

Eph 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Are we waiting for this event or did it already happen?
If I read this correctly I was already raised up 2000 years ago.
I am at this moment seated with Christ in heavenly realms and as far as I can tell, have been for 2000 years.

I gotta say it was because sin has consequences.
But this was some major sin(s) obviously that had caused the infirmity. (Somekinda sickness I believe)

But still same rule applies to us. Dont sin anymore. Or in other words dont repeat ur foolishness that only causes harm sooner or later.
See sin causes sickness.. And from that God would like to spare us.
