Pentecost was people becoming born again...

If you think about it, the disciples met the criteria for becoming born again before the day of Pentecost. They believed on the risen Lord.

it is not a template for how to run a meeting. 1 Corinthians 14 should be adhered to. It clearly says that if nonchristians are present the only tongues heard should be followed by interpretation.

Of course, there are a variety of opinions on this.
But I have noticed that those churches who put a damper on prayer tongues in public eventually lose ALL tongues, PLUS the ability to interpret them.
What you allow to grow and develop is what will become strong.
Put a stranglehold on tongues, and it will die out.
I have seen it over and over.

Church meeting implies interaction and fellowship, and this is not achieved by each individual being in their own 'spiritual zone' and forgetting about others, speaking in tongues, or otherwise.

Have you never experienced fellowship in the Spirit? When we ALL enter the "spiritual zone" together... I simply cannot describe it. It is then that we begin to know by experience what Jesus meant about being seated together in heavenly places in Christ.

i'm not in a position to experience such intimacy (been there once or twice) but i know what you speak of.

Yery interesting previous statements regarding the difference between personal and public tongues, thank you for sharing your testemony and prophecy.

what i can add is there is a difference between unbelievers and unsaved believers.

Churches are also tasked with purging the evil one among them.. this doesn't mean cast out the unsaved.. it means kindly show the person who lost their salvation and is working for satan the door.. if these types are present you Will find the Holy Ghost cautioning you against sharing various things, but not everyone can handle knowing who it is/why/how etc.. so they may wonder for years why God has been telling them to keep quite. This also seems to be a very gender specific responsibility that is given to the elders and the shepherd.
They also walk among many webforums.. do not be naive!.. i've even seen folks register on a forum the day i post something spiritual, for the purpose of attacking me, under the same name as a spirit harassing me. (not on this forum, thank God )

A long time friend of mine is an unsaved unbeliever.. but on one occasion my gift of tongues accidentally on purpose spilled out in front of him.. just enough that I hardly even noticed it, still not sure how that happened.. but the point being God is flexible.

Anyhow, I do believe it is sin if the Lord commands you to speak in tongues and you refuse, i don't know how it couldn't be.

on a few occasions I was able to pray in my spirit silently in tongues (i can hear the protest rising that this isn't possible ) and i'm still angry about somethings and thus i refuse to utter anything that i don't know the meaning of, but that's just me.

I've posted before that i know someone who spoke in tongues to a church she was visiting.. someone privately interpreted it to a select group but then lied and said she had a demon. (or maybe someone else lied, i can't recall the exact story).. and then to top it off they missinterpreted the interpretation.....this i suppose "takes the cake" so to speak but.... i don't even.. ?
