there is so much about fruit in the Scriptures.

So much.

the following is from C. Spurgeon, may it inspire you to search the Scriptures and add some more to this thread.



“From me is thy fruit found.”
Hosea 14:8


Our fruit is found from our God as to union.

The fruit of the branch is directly traceable to the root. Sever the connection, the branch dies, and no fruit is produced.

By virtue of our union with Christ we bring forth fruit.

Every bunch of grapes have been first in the root, it has passed through the stem, and flowed through the sap vessels, and fashioned itself externally into fruit, but it was first in the stem; so also every good work was first in Christ, and then is brought forth in us.

O Christian, prize this precious union to Christ; for it must be the source of all the fruitfulness which thou canst hope to know. If thou wert not joined to Jesus Christ, thou wouldst be a barren bough indeed.

Our fruit comes from God as to spiritual providence.
When the dew-drops fall from heaven, when the cloud looks down from on high, and is about to distil its liquid treasure, when the bright sun swells the berries of the cluster, each heavenly boon may whisper to the tree and say, “From me is thy fruit found.”

The fruit owes much to the root-that is essential to fruitfulness-but it owes very much also to external influences.
How much we owe to God’s grace-providence! in which he provides us constantly with quickening, teaching, consolation, strength, or whatever else we want. To this we owe our all of usefulness or virtue.

Our fruit comes from God as to wise husbandry.
The gardener’s sharp-edged knife promotes the fruitfulness of the tree, by thinning the clusters, and by cutting off superfluous shoots.

So is it, Christian, with that pruning which the Lord gives to thee. “My Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away; and every branch that beareth fruit he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” John 15:1-2

Since our God is the author of our spiritual graces, let us give to him all the glory of our salvation.

Dear Br. Bear, this is what came to my mind...

As the Apple Tree among the trees of the wood, so is my Beloved among the sons. I sat down under His shadow with great delight. And His fruit was sweet to my taste.
He brought me to the banqueting house. And His banner over me was love. Solomons Song 2: 3,4

This is one of the most beautiful scriptures about fruit to me. Sitting with the Beloved Saviour, sheltered and protected by the shadow of His love, feeding on the sweet fruits of His precious love. And always above the shining banner of His love.

....the fruit of the Spirit is love... Galatians 5:22

Beloved let us love one another for love is of God...I John 4:7

He continually blesses His children with love as He invites us to feed on His sweet fruit...and that fruit is for sharing...and those who are hardest to love need it the most.

These are just very simple well known thoughts, and I'm not sure if they fit in with this thread.....but they are very precious thoughts about the beloved Saviour.

My little daughter was hiding some olives under a cup to avoid eating them and it just reminded me of one of the significances of olives in scripture.

.....thou shalt tread the olives....Micah 6:15

I have been kind of lost in wonder contemplating the depths of the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Olives have to be totally crushed and are disfigured in order to bring forth oil... And it just brought to mind our beloved Lord Jesus, in the olive grove garden of Gethsemane (translated oil press), being pressed beyond measure for our sins. The weight of the sins of the whole world was upon Him in Gethsemane.

And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly: and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground Luke 22:44

Like an olive going to the oil press our beautiful Saviour was totally disfigured and marred for our sins

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He hath put him to grief
Isaiah 53:10

As many were astonied at thee; His visage was so marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men:
Isaiah 52:14

How can we ever love the Lord enough for what He went through for us....it is impossible to fathom even a drop of the mighty depths of His love. The olive leaf the symbol of peace....He indeed is our peace.

This is some beautiful extracst from Spurgeon talking of Jesus as an apple tree in his sermon Under the Apple Tree. I have chosen just a little of the sermon that is special to me.....the whole sermon is well worth reading

Christ known, should be Christ used.
The spouse knew her Beloved to be like a fruit-bearing tree, and at once she sat under His shadow, and fed upon His fruit.
It is a pity that we can know so much about Christ, and yet enjoy Him so little.
May our experience keep pace with our knowledge, and may that experience be composed of a practical using of our Lord!

Jesus casts a shadow, let us sit under it:
Jesus yields fruit, let us taste the sweetness of it.
Depend upon it...
　
...If Jesus is as an apple tree among the trees of the woods, do not keep away from Him, but sit under His shadow, and taste His fruit......
　
....Now, at this time I want you to think of Jesus, not as a Prince, but as an apple tree; and when this is done, I ask you to sit down under His shadow. It is not much to do. Any child, when it is hot, can sit down in the shade.

I want you next to feed on Jesus: any simpleton can eat apples when they are ripe upon the tree.
Come and take Christ, then.
You who never came before, come now.
Come and welcome.
You who have come often, and have entered into the palace, and are reclining at the banqueting table, you lords and princes of Christianity, come to the common woods and to the common apple tree where poor saints are shaded and fed.
You had better come under the apple tree, like poor sinners such as I am, and be once more shaded with boughs and comforted with apples, for else you may faint beneath the glories of the palace.
The best of saints are never better than when they eat their original fare, and are comforted with the apples which were their first gospel feast.
