Yes they are not but what what makes the different is the Revelation of Jesus Christ they had. So, do you have the revelation of Jesus Christ? I'm not saying you are not born-again. For there is different between being a Christian of 21st century and Knowing(Having revelation of Christ) Christ.!!

Excuse me?! Do we have the revelation of Jesus Christ?! Did you really ask that? What do you think the Bible is? Its the Word! Who is the Word? We have MORE now than the original 12 had. We have The promise fulfilled in us. We have the mind of the anointed one. We have Him in us! They were no different than we are my friend.

They put their pants on one leg at a time just like us.

The difference though is that they did not take the Word and change it to fit their ideals. They changed their ideals to fit the Word.

I know the bible is the word of God so also was the scroll that the Pharisees and Sadducee had then when Christ came to the scene but, they were blind and lack revelation of who Christ was. It is possible to know bible and not have the revelation that is therein. More also it is very very possible to have knowledge of the bible and to not know the God of the Bible. So, the letter killeth but it the Spirit that giveth life.

I partly dis-agreed with you that we christian of 21st century had more than the 12 did and if that is the truth then where is the fruits? "Wisdom is justify by her Children".
The little they had cause them to turned the whole world upside down but the more we accumulated made us to mingle with world.

Our problem is not in the "word knowledge" but our problem is lack of "REVELATION" of Christ.

G4L You're missing the point. Jesus IS the Word. He lives inside us. Mixed right in with us. Jesus is the revelation of God to the World.

1. John 8:12
   Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
   
   
2. John 9:5
   As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
