And they shall know [from personal experience] that I am the Lord their God, Who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them; I am the Lord their God. Exodus 29:46 AMPC

You’d think it would be enough to see the evidence of God’s handiwork that awe would be the natural result of seeing how God freed an entire nation from slavery. The imprint of God’s goodness had to be on the minds of those who walked through the Red Sea, ate God’s special food, and witnessed His presence on the mountain. But memories fade.

The people knew from personal experience that God rescues. But, the people were looking for a return policy.

Jesus was reluctant to perform some miracles because people had a short memory. They wanted a show to amuse and astound, but they couldn’t endure long enough to recall God’s previous faithfulness.

Remember (from personal experience) how God took the impossible and made it an answered prayer—the times when you accepted His forgiveness and love. He’s the God who rescued you from slavery to sin.

Faith is your endurance test. It asks that you trust without seeing, believe without knowing everything, and remember without returning to what you once were.

Prayer: God, my personal experience insists that You are God, but my daily choices don’t always show that I remember what I know is true. Jog my memory, move my heart, and let me remember that You’re faithful.
