A young girl of 15 who is a friend of my daughter's just recently announced that she's two months pregnant. Everyone is acting like it's a train wreck and therefore there's a lot of negativity floating around. I've really never had a chance to contemplate what people go through in this situation - but there is a real mix of sadness and necessarily of joy. It's almost like death and rebirth at the same time in a sense. A lot of people are upset with her right now, and it's understandable.
I've been thinking about her for days though. I know what she really need is love and support, not the least of which is the love and support of God. I know she's going into a very deep valley where she's going to run into a tonne of challenges over the next several years. I also know that she knows Jesus though, and that sometimes the valley is where God does his best teaching. She's going to learn a lot about humility, accepting help from others and depending on the Lord over the next few years.
I thank the Lord for the crosses that he asks me to bear every day. It's not my place to thank him for someone else's problems. I pray for her though, and I pray that whatever God's perfect plan has in store for her that he might bless her and show her his love. I pray that he might also use me if it be his will to minister and help her in any small way I can.
Amen.
