Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies' sake! Psalm 6:4 NKJV
David was one smart king. Truth had nudged its way deep into his heart, and he came away with a prayer that recognized God’s love in an amazing display of courage. This wasn’t a knee-jerk response. This was knowledge and understanding that led to wisdom.
When someone talks about the goodness of God, it’s often a proclamation based on personal experience. That experience requires the head and heart to agree. It’s an experience based on time spent with God, where discoveries are made. It’s an investment that grows, thrives, and produces a harvest that’s bigger than your most impressive dream.
David needed help, and he knew who to call. He needed deliverance, and he knew the Deliverer. The king needed love, and what he found is described as a love unfailing. Do you think that every part of your being could conspire to follow the God you can call on? Do you think you could accept His love?
This above verse isn’t a pep rally. It’s the outcome of a journey experienced and discovered to be amazing.
Prayer: God, I can find trouble. Sometimes trouble finds me. Help me learn enough, understand enough, and trust enough to know that You are enough. May I come boldly to You and ask for help I cannot find on my own, no matter how hard I try.
