For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. Hebrews 4:12-13
Veterans know what it's like to follow commands. They either trusted their commanding officer by following orders, or they learned trust through discipline and undesirable assignments.
Today is a day to honor veterans. Their story is reflected in the lives of Christian veterans. No soldier would consider an order from their commander to be a suggestion, and Christians learn that God never asks us to simply consider following His commands. They're meant to be obeyed.
Again, commands are not suggestions to be considered. Get comfortable realizing that God means what He says, and what He says goes.
From battle zones around the world there's gratitude to share and lessons to learn. Serve well, follow orders, trust your commander, and remember that at the end of honorable service there's an acknowledgment of a job well done.
Prayer: Dear God, teach me that You're my commanding officer and that Your orders are to be followed. May I share what I learn with those new to Your service.
