Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did [any] arise like him. 2 Kings 23:24
Even before Hilkiah's great discovery, King Josiah rejected the ways of his wicked grandfather and father. Instead, Josiah sought the Lord as his forefather David had done. Once he heard the Law of the Lord however, God's truth filled Josiah's soul.
Calling all the people to Jerusalem, King Josiah took his place of authority and read aloud from the book of the Law. Josiah gave the people God's Word, and then he gave them the powerful example of his own zeal and obedience. With the words of the Law still ringing in their ears, the people watched as their king lived out the fulfillment of it--to love the Lord his God wholeheartedly.
No one can force another person to love and obey God. Yet when a man gives the Word of God to others and lives it out before them, God uses this example to draw others to Himself.
Prayer: Lord, I want to be a man who draws others to You. I pledge to read Your Word, live it out, and love You wholeheartedly this summer, fall, and for years to come.
