Hey everyone. I'm not sure how my testimony will pop up or become visible, as I'm literally brand new here, but I'm looking for help, and a lot of my details are in it. I'm not going to pretend I've searched with 100% of my heart, but I've been looking for a church and I'm not having an easy time of it. In fact, I'm not having an easy time of anything. It seems like the harder I try to put Christ at the head of my life, the harder my relationships with friends and family suffer. I'm very strong willed and the more I learn and pray and meditate on His word, the more abundantly clear it becomes how wrong and incorrectly I conduct myself, but I'm feeling so hopelessly alone and separated not just from the people who I love but also from God. I don't know what I'm doing, and the count against me and my walk with Him seems endless. I know I'm not right, and I know there is plenty I need to correct, but some of those things require huge changes, like moving out of the place I'm living, and that just feels unattainable and I lose motivation so quickly. With that loss of motivation creeps in all the bad habits I worked to be free of and the whole things feels like an unbreakable cycle, which is exactly where the enemy wants me. Can someone offer some advice for keeping my eyes on Him, and to solidify my resolve in getting out from under the situation I find myself in? If not, could you please pray for me? I'm not asking for three and a half years of draught, just the strength to do the right thing and hear God's will for my life. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read this.

I asked in your other thread if you were a Jehovah's witness because of your anti military requirement for judging Christians. You said that a military chaplain is an oxymoron.

In this thread you said that the harder you try to put Christ at the head of your life, the harder your relationships with friends and family suffer..

If you are trying to break free of the cult mindset I would suggest finding Marc Cora on youtube They are a Christian couple in England that want to help and know all to well the challenges you face.

I will be praying for you.

I just read your testimony on your profile page of being a child molester at the age of 12 and going to christian schools and joining the military and of your praying a year ago whilst stoned on pot the most sincere prayer of your life.

God knows you better than you know yourself and He loves you and wants to free you of your sin and shame. There are many threads on this forum that can help you understand God's love for you but the best source is the Bible.

Read scripture. Believe what you read in it. Pray a lot, talk to the Lord a lot. Things will get better. Glad to pray for you.

First welcome to Talk Jesus Brother William Christopher!

I am so glad that you are here. For you will find that many will I pray engage you and be open to help you as the spirit moves them to. I say the spirit, because when our actions are driven by what we believe is truth instead of driven by the Love of Christ, we have a tendency to be wrong even when we appear right.

The adversary will attempt as you know to use everything, I do mean everything, even God's Word to have you going in circles, not knowing which way to turn.

  1. First realize that your victory is in Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Second prepare yourself for battle, Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
  3. If you feel that you are being overwhelmed by the adversary then as Jude says Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. (Allow Him who has the power and authority chase the adversary away!)
  4. Place your trust in the Lord just like you did on that first day you came to Him! 2 Corinthians 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
  5. Trust not in the power of your own strength nor in the might of your own will to accomplish good, William Christopher! Your sanctification is not a matter of dominating yourself through discipline! You have no ability of your own to effect righteous works in your life! Trust, rather, in God! Place your faith in the Spirit to work in you for righteousness! Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This [is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Finally. If we Love as Christ loved, then our actions, words, hopes, dreams will be moved in a walk that will allow everyone including yourself to see the change in you, as well as see the light that is Christ in your life that has prompted that change! Our Lord said in John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments. What is His command to us brother? John 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

Look at the things in your life and ask yourself. Do they reflect the Love of Christ? Am I loving others as well as myself as Christ who gave up His life for me did and does? If not, then pray repentance, and pray for guidance, wisdom, and His will to do what needs to be done. Then step out in faith, that He will do what He has said he will do. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Know that many of the things that you feel are because you are being convicted of the things that you continue to do that you know you shouldn't do.

Sit, study, show yourself approved as a Child of God. Stand for the Gospel, and share to all. Walk in His ways! Loving them no matter what you get in return! For then you will truly be a Child of the Most High! One I would proudly call Brother!

In the name of Jesus Christ I pray for you William Christopher. Amen

YBIC

P.S. As you continue to grow. Those who are now your friends, who may not know the Lord. Will first think, you've lost your mind; you've gone Holy Roller on them; Drugs have finally taken their toll; might even think you're got a demon! No matter what stay faithful to He who has called you which is God the Father! For if these friends turn away, the things you now place importance on will disappear. Just know that you will find others, have the things that you truly need and are beneficial. Why? Because you will be led to other Brothers & Sisters in Christ Jesus (Like here at TJ), for a fellowship which nothing may break and will last for an eternity. For it has been bonded by the Blood of the Lamb!

Once again be welcome to Talk Jesus!!!!!

Welcome to the real world of spirituality, you will have a lot of company here. Even Jesus said we would struggle and have our hard times. But, if you are truly Born Again, these problems don't make you any less saved and a child of God.
the more abundantly clear it becomes how wrong and incorrectly I conduct myself, but I'm feeling so hopelessly alone and separated not just from the people who I love but also from God.
This is proof that God is working on you. None of us come to God in a perfect condition, so listen to his silent voice and keep working on it!
Read how Paul struggled to do what is right in Romans 7 and then read what he says in Romans 8:1
Can someone offer some advice for keeping my eyes on Him, and to solidify my resolve in getting out from under the situation I find myself in?
  • We all struggle but some more and some less, and I have no answer why! You are here for a reason, so that will definitely help. Stay in the word of God and don't expect to understand it all, stay after it and things will improve. Keep trying to find that church and get involved, you also learn and believe more about Jesus by doing.
  • Re-read Romans 8:1, there is nothing that God will not forgive you for, except your ultimate rejection of his free gift, see Ephesians 2: 8-9
  • Welcome to TJ!

If you are trying to break free of the cult mindset
Actually, it's quite the opposite. All this time hearing and not getting it, and all these people who saw me struggling and said nothing and let me go on... I'm highly suspicious of anyone who says they are a Christian, not only because I know how easy it is to make that claim when it isn't true and also because so-called Christians have subjected me to more pain than anyone else. I felt more comradery in the military than in any church, and I felt more love and honesty from homosexual friends than from any Christian.
I just read your testimony on your profile page of being a child molester at the age of 12 and going to christian schools and joining the military and of your praying a year ago whilst stoned on pot the most sincere prayer of your life.
In fact, that suspicion doesn't stop now. I am suspicious of your reasons to repost that information, I wonder if you're trying to box me in and prevent me from running from what I have already said. I don't say this to condemn you, but I have a hard time believing you've done this with my best interest at heart. Don't get me wrong, nothing about repeating it is inherently throwing it in my face... but it still kind of feels like it.
I asked in your other thread if you were a Jehovah's witness because of your anti military requirement for judging Christians. You said that a military chaplain is an oxymoron.
It isn't about judging Christians as a group, it's about sizing up leadership in a church. I am equally seeking confirmation of this as an acceptable test of their knowledge of scripture and their willingness to stand for it. Are we not supposed to be discerning? Is what I'm doing not discernment? These are questions I have, and I don't know if it's my flesh or the Spirit within me who asks. I came here for guidance because what I thought I understood has pushed me away from any would-be leaders and mentors. As for military chaplains, I believe their purpose is the maintenance of whatever misguided belief system those who believe themselves to be Christians already have in place, because the military has always understood the nature of their hearts and minds campaign to control their soldiers as a resource.

Still, I thank you for taking the time to read, the resources you have sent my way, and most of all, the prayer.

@RJ Thanks very much for the encouragement, doctrinal direction, and more than anything else, your prayer. I hope our disagreement about the military doesn't sour you against me... I'm looking to remove anything that isn't doctrinally sound from my beliefs, as well as discern who teaches sound doctrine, and I believe I am being an obedient disciple by testing the teachings against the Bible. So I thank you for your willingness to share and discuss, and again for the love and encouragement you have shown me; please do not forget me in your prayers.

@Christ4Ever: Wow, talk about dead on! Thanks so much for throwing this my way. At best, I'm familiar with some of this, and at worst, I haven't touched some of that Scripture, before or after my relationship with Christ began. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this up. I won't let it go to waste. Thank you for this. I really appreciate. Please continue to pray for me. I need it.
