That through death He might destroy him that had the power of death.
Hebrews 2:14

O child of God, death hath lost its sting, because the devil's power over it is destroyed.
Then cease to fear dying.
Ask grace from God the Holy Ghost, that by an intimate knowledge and a firm belief of thy Redeemer's death, thou mayst be strengthened for that dread hour.
Living near the cross of Calvary thou mayst think of death with pleasure, and welcome it when it comes with intense delight.
It is sweet to die in the Lord: it is a covenant-blessing to sleep in Jesus.
Death is no longer banishment, it is a return from exile, a going home to the many mansions where the loved ones already dwell.
The distance between glorified spirits in heaven and militant saints on earth seems great; but it is not so.
We are not far from home....a moment will bring us there.
The sail is spread; the soul is launched upon the deep.
How long will be its voyage?
How many wearying winds must beat upon the sail ere it shall be reefed in the port of peace?
How long shall that soul be tossed upon the waves before it comes to that sea which knows no storm?
Listen to the answer,
"Absent from the body, present with the Lord."
Yon ship has just departed, but it is already at its haven.
It did but spread its sail and it was there.
Like that ship of old, upon the Lake of Galilee, a storm had tossed it, but Jesus said, "Peace, be still," and immediately it came to land.
Think not that a long period intervenes between the instant of death and the eternity of glory.
When the eyes close on earth they open in heaven.
The horses of fire are not an instant on the road.
Then, O child of God, what is there for thee to fear in death, seeing that through the death of thy Lord its curse and sting are destroyed?
and now it is but a Jacob's ladder whose foot is in the dark grave, but its top reaches to glory everlasting.

Dear Brothers and Sisters
How beautiful to know that when we die we will be present with the Lord
Home with Him in glory
Nothing to fear

Thine eyes shall see the King in His beauty
Isaiah 33:17

Christians have hope at the time of death because our spirit will go with the Holy Spirit to heaven immediatly. Our earthly bodies will sleep untill changed and called up to Jesus in the air 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

Psalms 149:4-6a
4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.
5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,

My parents and a miscarried grand child are waiting for me in heaven. Christians have hope as we age because the best is ahead of us.

When we die our spirit is taken to heaven and given a new spiritual body like Jesus had after the resurrection. He could be touched and he could eat and he could go thru walls.

At the resurrection, our sleeping earthly bodies will be changed by having the old sin nature removed so corruption can put on incorruption and mortality can put on immortality.

Our earthly bodies will be called up to Jesus where our new spiritual body is put on it as a coat and the two bodies become one body.

1 Corinthians 15:50-56
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:1-11
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Luke 12:4-5)

So shall we ever be with the Lord
1 Thessalonians 4:17

Thank you Eric and HisFollower for your replies
How blessed we are to have a home in glory with our beloved Saviour
Forever with the Lord

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death
1 Corinthians 15:26

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is Death and if the last is slain there can be no future foe!
The battle is fought and the victory is won forever!
And who has won it?
Who but the Lamb that sits on the Throne, to whom let us all ascribe honour, glory, majesty, power, dominion and might forever and ever!
The Lord help us in our solemn adoration

I worry a bit about the unknown of death. What will happen. But htese posts help
Is this nrmal to worry

It is normal to fear the process of death, but we don't have to fear the results. In fact ,the older I get and the more pains that come to live with me , the more I look forward to my new perfect body!

Isaiah 65:17-25
17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

I am looking forward to petting a tiger. I have studied the bible passages about the kingdom of Jesus and wow is it going to be great.

I dont fear death at all, as I know in my heart that I will simply shed this failing body and take on an eternal perfect body. That being said, I dont look forward to any possible pain associated with death, but I know the Lord will help me endure it. I also dont worry about those I love, for I know the Lord loves them as well, and can take care of them better than I.

I think I worry about what if I'm not reaally saved. But these posts have all helped and I just pray about my fears.

[h=2]amanda123,

It is very easy to be sure you are going to heaven if you are willing to humble yourself before God. Ask God to forgive you for doing wrong (sinning) and accept Jesus death on the cross as payment for your sins. You must believe Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised him from the dead and be willing to tell others that you have accepted Him as your Lord.[/h] [h=2][/h] [h=2]Romans 10:8-11[/h] [h=2]8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;[/h] [h=2]9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.[/h] [h=2]10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.[/h] [h=2]11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.[/h] [h=2][/h]

Our Flesh does not want to die! But if we are born again? then we GAIn at the death of our weak body!
The Truth SETS US FREE !
Php_1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Php_1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

We all must Leave these bodies one day ! just know it important too our father god how we go!

Psa_116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

besides He has a NEW REST! Stephen entered it when He was being stoned !He never lost His peace or Joy! Because He never felt the stones ! We can trust our father GOD ! He Loves Us more than we love ourselves!

Have faith in HIM ! He does not like us fearing1 no more than we like to see our children fear ! and He has the power to see too it we do Not! But we must have Faith in HIM !The only Question is ? WILL YOU ?

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory
1 Corinthians 15:55

But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:20-21

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection
Romans 6:5

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy Him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage

Romans 2:14-15

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Corinthians 15:54

Spurgeon wrote of a woman in a few of his sermons who went to be with the Lord and left the following note on her bedside

Since Jesus is mine, I’ll not fear undressing,
But gladly put off this garment of clay!
To die in the Lord is a Covenant blessing,
Since Jesus to Glory through death led the way

Rom_6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

We die at salvation ! our Old spirit [old man] is Nailed to His cross ! Then we never die again !

Joh_11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Mar_1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Act_11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

1Co_1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Eph_4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Eph_2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph_4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Col_3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Rom_7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
2Co_4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

In Thy presense is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore
Psalm 16:11

How wonderful to know that death for Christians is ....absent from the body present with the Lord

Here are some of the death bed words of famous Christians

John A. Lyth: English lay preacher
"Can this be death? Why, it is better than living! Tell them I die happy in Jesus!"

Martha McCrackin:
"How bright the room! How full of angels!

Adoniram Judson, US missionary to Burma:
"I go with the gladness of a boy bounding away from school. I feel so strong in Christ."

Augustus Toplady,
preacher and writer of the hymn, "Rock of Ages":
"The consolations of God to such an unworthy wretch are so abundant that He leaves me nothing to pray for but a continuance of them. I enjoy heaven already in my soul."

Dwight Moody...awoke from sleep shortly before he died and said:
"Earth recedes. Heaven opens before me. If this is death, it is sweet! There is no valley here. God is calling me, and I must go."
And Moody's son said, "No, no, Father. You're dreaming."
And Moody replied, "I am not dreaming. I have been within the gates. This is my triumph; this is my coronation day! It is glorious!"

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.*

And so shall we ever be with the Lord
1 Thessalonians 4:17

I ask the LORD a while back ! Lord How is it our Spirit leaves the body and all those thoughts left in our flesh mind ? He said , Our Spirits mind only takes those things that we did out of pure LOVE ! We Do not remember the bad stuff ! that why we Do remember our dads and MOMS , because we really love them with a pure love !

that How He wipes away our tears ! We not sad about the mistakes , because we do not remember them !

Rev_7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Rev_21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Be wonderful to not remember the weakness of my flesh !

Spirit 1st,
I believe there will be many tears at the judgment seat of Christ for some who have lived for them selves and seen all their rewards burned up. But they themselves will be saved.

1 Corinthians 3:8-15
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Thankfully, the time will come when we do not think of the old life any more in the 1000 year kingdom age.

17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

So are you sayong that even saved people will cry?
Just on judgement day?

I think when someone who has no rewards is bowing before king Jesus and they understand what he did for them and they didn't work for Jesus, they will have great sadness.

We will cast our crowns before Jesus if we have some.

There is NO sadness ,crying in heaven ! Just joy ,peace, love ! We do not remember our mistakes! Listen we live in weak sin filled bodies! they can suffer for sin ? Our Spirit cannot Sin ! There is no reason for the Spirit to suffer in Heaven ! Only Good in New Jerusalem ! HE wipes away our Tears ! We do not remember any of the bad stuff ! We not going to be feeling bad! We are going to be Full of JOY ! GOD does not want Us suffering there !
GOD wants the Best for Us always ! He does not like seeing us suffer ! He not going to ALLOW us in NEW JERUSALEM to ever suffer again !

Spirit1st and Eric your answersare different. Do yoiu thinktears on judgment day will happen and then people will enter heaven with no more sorrow.

The judgment day will be done on the earth ! we do the judging ! We will be in our new bodies! Those we judge will not be in there new bodies! Now if God dose have mercy and accepts some of these we judge? Then They too will be born again ! Once born again They will be New Creatures as Us ! They will not remember !Because there Spirit mind will not have any of that knowledge within it 1

1Co_6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

2Co_5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Rev_21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Those being judged do remember everything ! Only if changed into the new creature , do they no longer know those things !

Rom_8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,
Our Spirit has it own mind ! Once Born of GOD ! it does not accept anything that not truth or out of pure LOVE! God LOVES us More than we Love our children ! He does not want us suffering! Which we would if we remembered all the sins we do while in the flesh ! The flesh is sinful , WE ARE NOT!
