False teaching

Active
Hi All

This is going to step on many toes, but here is a list of teaching I firmly believe is false.

My basis for identifying a message as false is to determine if said message undermines the cross or God's nature as defined in scripture.

Cross = God became flesh and lay His life down for all mankind John 3:16.
God = Love 1 John 4:7, righteous in all His ways Psalm 145:17, light with no darkness in Him at all 1 John 1:5.

False teaching:

1. Calvinism - undermines cross and God's nature

At it's route, it implies God cherry picks people for heaven. The verse of God's omniscience is cherry picked to explain the A-Z of His character. As He knows all, He can't but cherry pick. Heresy of the highest order.
It implies partiality. It is a belief that supports racism and slavery. Not grasping that God is as good as He is great.

A belief that is debunked in its entirety by Acts 10:34.

2. Non OSAS belief - undermines cross

OSAS = Once saved always saved.

Many espouse we can lose our salvation. Whilst I agree it is important to daily examine ourselves and ensure we are saved, as many wicked believe they are saved. Paul's teaching is rife with such warnings. It is pure heresy to teach that someone God has grafted into His family and washed with the blood of Jesus, can be removed.

It is a belief contrived from much cherry picking and half truths. One that mocks Christianity and stumbles the weak.

Those that believe this, should lock themselves in a room in a cabin far far away from all society. As the Christian that actually works with the lost for God, can get corrupted by them and land up burning in the fires of hell for all eternity. We should pray daily, that just like the criminal next to Jesus on the cross, we die soon after conversion.

Absolute trash. God does not mistakes of grafting demons into heaven. This entire belief is debunked with Heb 13:5. ''Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you''.

3. Hell is a place of torture - undermines God's nature

Many teach that as God is God, He can do no wrong. Whatever He does is right, because He is God. If God decides to torture the wicked for eternity in hell, who are we to question Him, as He is God.

Utter trash. Abraham interrogates God on the destruction of Sodom in Gen 18. Moses interrogates God on the destruction of Hebrews in Exodus 32.

Humans are corrupted and evil, not God. When we teach such doctrines, we are painting God in our image. God is good according to David Psalm 136:1, because ''He is good'', as David says ''for his mercy endureth for ever''.

A good God is incapable of torture. If God tortured people in hell on par with Him placing them in a brazen bull for all eternity, He will sit atop the list of the most evil beings to ever live. Seriously? Some Christians are fine with teaching that God of the bible is worse then Stalin, Ivan the terrible, Hitler 15 Of The Most Evil Men The World Has Ever Seen.

Torture is wicked. Full-stop. God does not torture anyone.

All those He destroyed in scripture suffered quick deaths. Drowning is 3-4 minutes of suffering. Fire is 30 seconds to a minute from inhaling carbon monoxide followed by carbon dioxide poisoning and/or oxygen deficiency. We know that Sodom was ''burnt properly'', no enduring suffering as some evil people have done in history. Sodom was like a furnace Gen 19:28.

Those in hell do not weep and gnash their teeth from being on fire. They weep and gnash teeth as they look up and see they are cast out Luke 13:28.

God is only good Psalm 136:1 and righteous in all His ways Psalm 145:17. We are wicked, angels are wicked.

4. Annihilationism - undermines God's nature

Some teach that God will completely destroy the wicked in hell. There is nothing righteous about saying to someone ''Serve me or die''. Imagine a bride saying ''marry me or die''. Wicked 10/10.

This belief is a cherry picking and miss translation of scripture. Debunked in its entirety by Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever and Psalm 145:17 God is righteous in all His ways.

5. We are demi gods / perfect in heaven / Christians never sin - undermines cross

This belief appeals to our pride. ''We will reign with Christ''. '' We will be perfect like God''.

It is contrived from cherry picked scripture. A complete lack of understanding of what a human creation is. We are made perfect to God, not perfect like God. That would make us a god.

Debunked completely by two verses. 1. Humans are made perfect to God by Jesus Heb 10:14. Nobody is truly good except God Mark 10:18.

6 . Original Sin - undermines God's nature

Many teach that we are born sinners. Babies can go to hell.

This is one of the most heretical teachings from the pits of hell that exists. God is not a fool that would send children to hell.

There is no scripture that says we are born sinners destined for hell. The correct context of the few that many miss-quote, speaks to us being born in an environment of sin with the ability to sin.

God put the devil in the garden. God did not force Adam to sin. God did not make Adam with sin. Fine line for Christians here. Very important for us to get it right and not miss-represent God.

When Jesus spoke on children, He said heaven belongs to them. We also know God spared all Hebrews under twenty in the wilderness. God is not a wicked fool that would send any children to hell.

Most need to grasp what the purpose of the millennium is. It is surely a time period where God can give all those like children who die early a chance. We know the devil is released from the bottomless pit to tempt mankind for the last time Rev 20:3.

God is just and righteous. NO just and righteous judge on this earth would send a baby to prison, yet some 'so called' Christians teach this tripe. You all need to grasp the rebuke Paul gives Christians who judge matters worse then the unsaved in 1 Cor 6:1-7 and the following scriptures about God.

Isa 61:8 For I, the Lord, love justice.
Job 34:12 Surely, God will not act wickedly, And the Almighty will not pervert justice.
Deut 32:4 The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.

Warning to false teachers

When you miss-represent God after knowing the truth about Him, you are the very definition of a false teacher and these are scriptures warnings for you:

2 Pet 2 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive opinions. They will even deny the Master who bought them bringing swift destruction on themselves.
Matt 18:6 If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

7. No healing = no faith - Undermines cross and God's nature

Many quote Isa 53:5 'By His stripes we are healed' and advise fellow Christians, that if they have no healing, they have no faith.

This is utter heresy and ignorance. The context of Isa 53:5 has absolutely nothing to do with bodily healing. It is a complete mockery and insult to the cross to propose it is referring to bodily healing. The context is clearly us being healed from our sins. Healed from our transgressions, healed from our iniquities.

Isa 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

God will always take care of His children. Healing or no healing. Sometimes there is healing, sometimes there is not. We are in a relationship with God as our Father. He wants to use our seventy years on earth to test us and see what we are made of. In Heaven, there will be perfect healing. Perhaps if we were in the OT working on a law basis with a God, sure we can 'demand' healing if we do X and Y. This is not the case. We are in a new covenant. One where God is our Father.

It takes little to no faith to believe God can heal. As scripture teaches us that faith of a mustard seed can move a mountain Matt 17:20. It takes real faith, more then a mustard seed, the kind of faith God is looking for in us, to serve Him when we are not healed. This is faith '''in''' God. Only possible if there is a real love and trust relationship with God.

A Christian is given faith to believe a man who walked the earth 2000 years ago is God of the universe Rom 12:3, 1 Cor 12:3.. As such we have a lot of faith in God. A lot more then a mustard seed.

8. No prosperity = no tithe = no faith - Undermines cross and God's nature

Many teach that Christians should all be rich and prosperous. If you tithe you can claim tenfold from God. Jesus was given expensive gifts as a baby and clothed in an expensive robe on the cross.

Utter heresy 10/10. The robe they put on Jesus was done to mock Him Matt 27:31.

Tithing is important. Preachers in full time ministry should not need to beg for money / salary. Bad Christians don't tithe, fact. A worker is worthy of their wages 1 Tim 5:18. The teaching that we can claim a reward from God for tithing however was only true in the OT as a Jew in the old covenant. Working with God on that basis in the new covenant (Luke 22:20) is simply disrespectful to Him. We have moved on to a better covenant. One where God is our Father. One where God will look after us because we are His children Matt 6:26, John 1:12. Not merely a group of holy people as the Hebrews were. They would live on a tit for tat basis with God. Do X, get Y.

In the new covenant Jesus teaches us to build up rewards in heaven and not on earth where moth and rust destroy Matt 6:19. IE Do not go to God and ask to be rich and prosperous. It shows complete ignorance and is disrespectful to God. It is as though you have no clue that you are a child of the most High.

Early Christians sold all they had and split their fortunes Acts 2:42-45. Living modestly. We should all consider modesty. Modesty = Christianity 101.

As long as there are orphans and widows battling financially, there should be absolutely no such thing as a Christian driving a Ferrari!

9. God is good and evil - undermines cross and God's nature

Many teach that God is a mix of good and evil. They quote a verse like Isa 45:7 'God created evil'. That combined with verses stating God is omniscient Psalm 139 and omnipotent Job 42:2 lead to an obvious answer of Him having a wicked side. Calvinism for example isolates Rom 9, specifically verse 21 'Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour', to prove God cherry picks some for heaven and some for eternal hell. I would say 'God being a mix of good and evil' is a default belief for all the unsaved.

Prophets in scripture however did not see God like this. Christians, whose 'one' job is to properly represent God to the lost 2 Cor 5:20, should likewise also know better. It is utter heresy and a terribly lazy discernment of scripture.

Prophets said the following of God: He is good Psalm 136:1, righteous in all His ways Psalm 145:17, He is light with no darkness in Him at all 1 John 1:5, He is truly impartial Acts 10:34, He is love 1 John 4:8.

I want us to focus on 1 John 4:8. It says 'Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love'. I want all who teach that God is a mix of good and evil to really meditate on this verse. It is saying, if you teach God is anything other then 'love', YOU DO NOT KNOW HIM.

So, when we are not lazy and properly interrogate God and scripture, we find the following:

God does what pleases Him Psalm 115:3 and what pleased Him with mankind was to commit to laying down His life for all mankind before the foundations of the earth 1 Pet 1:20.

When you meditate on the cross and read all scripture outside of Rom 9 and cherry picked verses like Isa 45:7, you realize that God has simply created a free will environment for mankind.

Free will is a good thing. No free will is evil. We naively incriminate God for giving us free will. Mistakenly defining the A-Z of His nature off of Him being '''''omniscient and omnipotent''''. Lazy Christianity.

The fact that God laid His life down for us, should tell us with crystal clarity that God is as good as He is great. There is no greater act of love possible John 15:13. He is both 100% love and omniscient at the same time.

Just because God can do something wicked, does not mean He does. Likewise, just because God can know something that is wicked to know, does not mean He does. IE No cherry picking people for heaven.

10. The Trinity does not exist - Undermines God's nature and the cross

Islam for example accepts Jesus as a prophet. They state He can't be God as He prayed to God, He was crucified, He could not do miracles in certain places. There are a few Christians that teach the trinity is not mentioned in scripture and that Jesus is a completely separate person to God. Simply a son, not a God to be worshipped.

This is heresy of the highest order 10/10. Teaching from the pits of hell. A complete mockery of core Christianity, the significance of the cross. If we believe Jesus is not God, well then we believe God got some unlucky fella to come and die for all mankind. God does not really love us, this other random creation ''called a son'' does. God is kind of sick to make someone a lamb to the slaughter for people he did not create or know.

The trinity is at the core of Christianity. It is very important for Christians to know and believe this. The bible does not need to say ''trinity'' for it to be true.

God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and God the Father. These are three persona's of one being.

God made Himself flesh John 1:14. God did not 'cheat'. He experienced the A-Z of our temptations Heb 4:15. He could have called angels to help Him, He did not Matt 26:53. He was truly abandoned by God the Father Matt 27:46. He did not heal all because He wanted them to have faith Matt 13:58. God has never been one to perform fancy tricks like a clown for our amusement Matt 16:4. He made Himself a Lamb to the slaughter as a sign of respect to mankind Isa 53:7. He wants us to know that even though He could have done ''death'' the easy way (instant death), He did not. It's crazy that God of the universe would want to 'earn' our respect. God is such a good God. Worthy of all our praise and worship.

The only matter that I feel requires some very special insight, is grasping the fact that Jesus prayed to God. This link explains it soundly I believe If Jesus was God, how could He pray to God? Was Jesus praying to Himself? | GotQuestions.org.

Some scriptures that prove the trinity:

Isa 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
John 10:30 I and the Father are one.
John 8:58 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am!
John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

11. Sin is sin, full stop - Undermines God's nature.

There is a very heretical message going around ''We all sin, there is no such thing as my sin being worse then yours, so what if I live in it''.

Not only is this heresy, it is outright ''idiocy'' and Christians need to be so careful of falling into this trap.

On face value it sounds correct. Jesus made the point in Matt 5:28 that all have sinned. We know Jesus has died for all our sin. There is no sin too great that God cannot forgive us of.

This is true, 100% sound. But it can be a half truth on certain topics. Living with sin for example.

In the wilderness the devil spoke truth ''jump angels will catch you'', but when asking Jesus to simply jump, it was clear this was a half truth. Likewise, using Matt 5:28 as grounds for a divorce for example as scripture says Matt 19:9, is heresy. Jesus corrected the devil with ''do not tempt God'', likewise all who believe thoughts = adultery Matt 5:28, need to be corrected with Matt 5:32 ''actual sexual immorality is adultery'', not merely thoughts.

As such, the correct statement is ''Sin is sin and sin has degrees''.

Some scriptures to consider that point to degrees of sin / mortal and venial sins:

1. In the OT, some sinners received warnings, some like fornicators received one-hundred lashes, some were to be childless, some were excommunicated and then those guilty of greater sins like adulterers, murderers, false teachers, rapists received capital punishment of a graphic stoning to death.

2. In 1 Cor 5 Paul isolates a ''brethren so called'' who is guilty of incest. A sin that not even the gentiles commit 1 Cor 5:1. We need to note that he did not isolate a child who stole a stick of candy from the candy store.

3. In 1 Cor 6:1-7 Paul rebukes Christians who take matters to the worldly courts. He says they should be able to judge matters better then the unsaved as one-day they will judge angels 1 Cor 6:3. Now, if the unsaved know to punish children differently to adults, thieves who steal the only loaf of bread from an orphan over those that steal a piece of candy from a candy store, how much more us?

4. Mal 3:6 The Bible says He is the Father of lights with whom there is no change or variation. If God's feelings on the sin of adultery were to punish said individual with a graphic stoning to death in the OT, do not make the mistake of thinking His view of the sin has changed.

5. The fall of the angels. All sin, yet a third of them were eternally removed. Only God is good and without sin Mark 10:18. The devil has been sinning since the beginning 1 John 3:8.

6. In Rom 7:15 Paul clearly says he is battling with sins. We know for a fact that he was not referring to the mortal sin of murdering Christians.

Grasping that there are degrees of sin is very important for a Christian. Nobody, absolutely nobody on the face of the planet would say Paul was a changed man if he was still murdering Christians.

Scripture urges us to judge ourselves / examine ourselves in Phil 2:12, 2 Cor 13:5, Psalm 4:4, Lam 3:40, 1 Cor 11:27-31, 1 John 3:20-21, 1 Cor 11:28. How can we do this if we have been brainwashed with the half truth 'sin is sin, full stop'.

Only God is good Mark 10:18. We are not a god and as such will always battle with sin. We need to consider the sins we are battling with when we judge ourselves.

12. Divorce is acceptable - Undermines God's nature

Divorce makes a mockery of scripture and God's design of the family structure.

Media is rife with 'so called' Christians espousing that scripture permits divorce. God is 'ok' with divorce. It smells of unrighteousness and Mickey Mouse type Christianity. 10/10 False teaching from the pits of hell.

Anyone who gets a divorce needs to be terrified of eternal hell fire as you become guilty of adultery and abandonment of your spouse. You need to judge yourself so harshly. There is only 'one' exception clause and it is the words of Jesus in Matt 19:8-9 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”

Problems in marriage and the solution:

1. Adultery = Divorce allowable Matt 5:32 and Matt 19:8-9, but you do better to forgive and take them back if they have sincere repentance Luke 17:3-4.

2. Abuse = Temporary separation and therapy. Many times, not all, a person who physically abuses is cheating. They have no respect for their spouse due to another being in their heart. Nobody can stay in the same house if they fear for their life, but if there is no adultery, it is a temporary separation (dependant on severity) and therapy issue. Not grounds for divorce.

3. Abandonment = Therapy. Many today do not spend enough time with their spouse. This is not grounds for divorce, it is a therapy issue. There is a special situation with many men in Africa. They tend to leave their wives for years at a time. A woman may pass a session of self judgment before God if she did not want this / agree to it before the marriage as it could be seen as a divorce by the man.

What makes me so insanely sick in my spirit is that so many ''so called'' Christians do not realize the importance and seriousness of a verse like Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

If any divorce their spouse as they ''feel the love has run out'', I am telling you that you are not a Christian and your eternal home should you die right now is... hell.

Matt 19:4-6 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.

1 Cor 7:10-11 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

I agree with all of these except the original sin. Denial of original sin undermines the cross, as it implies there's no need for the cross to cleanse our sin. We've debated over this before.

Also, "hell is a place of torture" comes with a caveat - it's not a place of torture for humans who just return to dust after death, but it IS a place of torture for Satan and his fallen angels. They can't be annihilated, it goes hand in hand with #4. If you don't have the Holy Spirit, then you're possessed by Satan's unclean spirit, that becomes your identity, and that unclean spirit goes down in hell for eternal damnation.

Cross = God became flesh and lay His life down for all mankind
Galatians 4:4 "But when the fullness of the time was come, God SENT FORTH HIS SON, made of a woman, made under the law.

God who wrote the law cannot be tempted with evil that He created, thus He cannot sin. Therefore. only man can sin as man only can be tempted, thus Jesus was a man whom
could be tempted, and was, therefore He was not God but the Son of God made of a woman, made under the law in ALL respects.

Hebrews 2:17 NIV For this reason He had to be made like them, FULLY HUMAN IN EVERY WAY, in order that HE MIGHT BECOME a merciful and faithful high priest IN SERVICE
TO GOD
, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people.

9. God is good and evil - undermines cross and God's nature

Many teach that God is a mix of good and evil. They quote a verse like Isa 45:7 'God created evil'.

You missed your own point. God CREATED EVIL, God Himself is not evil. So "GOD IS GOOD AND EVIL IS WRONG" He does however understand that knowing good and evil is required to
be like Him. Genesis 3:22

Thus Isaiah 54:16 "Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy."

Tithing is important. Preachers in full time ministry should not need to beg for money / salary. Bad Christians don't tithe,
Tell me. is not tithing a thing under the Old Mosaic Law? It was used to support the Levites who did not have an Inheritance in the land. Jesus, who was from the tribe of Judah is
the new High Priest. Where in the old law is an Israelite to tithe to a priest out of the tribe of Judah? Nowhere!
Hebrews 7:12 For the priesthood BEING CHANGED, there is made of necessity also a change in the law.
14: For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah; of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
18 For there is verily a DISANNULLING of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

Now according to the Old Law you were to tithe to the Levite, so if you wish to continue to tithe you are trying to fulfill the Old law, but your problem here is your gonna have to find
a Levite to tithe to. Good luck with that. And also you make yourself a debtor to do the WHOLE LAW.

It is good that you are searching the scripture looking for the truth but if you have the Holy Ghost you should listen to Him for He wrote the book and will tell you what it means
and instruct you in doctrine. It is line upon line and precept upon precept.

ONE THING AT A TIME. YOUR TRYING TO ADDRESS EVERYTHING YOU SEE AS WRONG ALL AT ONCE AND THAT WILL ONLY CAUSE YOU MORE CONFUSION!

Yes, I have heard this interpretation before. I am addressing a specific heresy within the church where they do not consider what you have.

I don't agree. I think a thread listing false teaching is a good thing. If you want to discuss any I can open a new thread.

Outside of the trinity, it seems we don't disagree on anything. Would you like to discuss the trinity? As you have read, I call it a terrible belief, one that completely and utterly undermines God and the cross.

Sure we can start with what you just stated. The Trinity "I call it a terrible belief" Is this what you really meant to say?

13. The law has fallen away, God has changed His mind - Undermines God's nature

Many teach that the law has fallen away and no longer applies. We live by grace and grace alone. God of the OT is a different God to the One in the NT. Merciless OT and forgiving NT.

This teaching implies that God was partial to those (specifically Jews) in the OT in that He punished them directly and harshly for their sin. Whilst us in the NT can sin all we want with no punishment as long as we repent.

While there is truth to a new covenant of grace, it is terribly unwise to teach that the law has fallen away. It is crucial for us to mention verses speaking to the A-Z of the topic. It is so easy to be guilty of heresy and misrepresentation of God on this topic.

Some points to consider:

1. God does not change His mind Num 23:19. If God in His wisdom ordained a graphic stoning to death of a person for said sin, don't for one second think His hatred of said sin has changed.
2. All scripture OT and NT is God breathed and inspired. All of it needs to be considered on every topic 2 Tim 3:16.
3. From day one God has wanted mankind to repent of their sin Gen 4:9-13. This is not a NT only doctrine Psalm 51:17.
4. In the OT someone who repented would go directly to Abraham's bosom. A place in death outside of God's presence. But not a place of torment Luke 16:19-31.
5. Jesus rescued those in Abraham's bosom Psalm 16:10, Eph 4:7 and took them to heaven.
6. The only change from the OT to the NT in terms of 'salvation' is that in the NT we bypass Abraham's bosom. True repentance got one into Abraham's bosom OT and in the NT it gets you grafted into the family of God Rom 11:11-24. IE You become a new creation, a Christian 2 Cor 5:17.
7. If we say we love God we will obey His commandments John 14:15.
8. Only the 'sting' of the law which is death, has fallen away 1 Cor 15:56.
9. The law is a shadow of what is to come Heb 10:1.
10. In the OT, a Jew who was guilty of a sin warranting death by stoning was able to repent in his last moments and wake up in Abraham's bosom Psalm 51:17. Today, we do not need to be stoned as repentance immediately grants us favor with God. The blood of Jesus can 'immediately' wash us clean of our sin 1 John 1:7.

Considering all the above, it becomes crystal clear that thanks only to Jesus and the cross, has our need for sacrificing animals and a direct punishment by God for our sin, ceased.

We are most certainly in an era of grace. But certainly not in an era of ignoring and writing off the laws.
