Calvinism is false teaching for these reasons:
<<Whilst the belief is false, it does not mean that all Calvinists are bad or insincere!>>
-------------------
Calvinism teaches that God only loves and died for the “elect”—a select group He chose to save before the foundation of the world. However, Scripture repeatedly affirms that God desires all people to be saved, not just a predetermined few:
In Calvinism, everything happens according to God’s sovereign decree, including sin, rebellion, and damnation. But if God ordains all things—including the fall, unbelief, and even eternal punishment—then He effectively causes sin and evil, while still punishing people for doing what He ordained.
This contradicts the Bible’s own teaching:
Calvinism teaches “total depravity” and “irresistible grace”, which mean humans cannot respond to God unless they’re chosen and regenerated first. But if that’s true, then God commands repentance and faith from people who are incapable of responding—then condemns them for not responding.
This makes human responsibility meaningless, yet Scripture clearly affirms that people are genuinely accountable for rejecting God:
Calvinism teaches limited atonement—that Jesus died only for the elect, not for the whole world. But this contradicts many clear passages:
If God has already decided who will be saved and who won’t, then evangelism becomes unnecessary or even deceptive. Why call people to respond to a message they may be incapable of responding to?
Additionally, Calvinism teaches that assurance of salvation is based on being one of the elect—but since no one can be 100% sure they're elect, it can create fear, doubt, and spiritual anxiety.

1. It Contradicts God's Universal Love and Desire to Save All People
Calvinism teaches that God only loves and died for the “elect”—a select group He chose to save before the foundation of the world. However, Scripture repeatedly affirms that God desires all people to be saved, not just a predetermined few:
- 1 Timothy 2:3–4: “God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
- 2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord… is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
- John 3:16: “For God so loved the world…”
2. It Makes God the Author of Evil
- James 1:13: “God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone.”
- Habakkuk 1:13: “Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; You cannot tolerate wrongdoing.”
3. It Denies Human Responsibility and Free Will
Calvinism teaches “total depravity” and “irresistible grace”, which mean humans cannot respond to God unless they’re chosen and regenerated first. But if that’s true, then God commands repentance and faith from people who are incapable of responding—then condemns them for not responding.
This makes human responsibility meaningless, yet Scripture clearly affirms that people are genuinely accountable for rejecting God:
- Romans 1:20: “People are without excuse.”
- Acts 17:30: “God now commands all people everywhere to repent.”
4. It Twists the Nature of the Gospel
Calvinism teaches limited atonement—that Jesus died only for the elect, not for the whole world. But this contradicts many clear passages:
- 1 John 2:2: “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
- Hebrews 2:9: “…so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:14–15: “One died for all, and therefore all died.”
5. It Damages Evangelism and Assurance
