Faith comes by Hearing the Word of God.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the WORD OF GOD.

As I was reading this scripture one day it was like a light turned on inside my heart. Scriptures to tell us that “the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord” (Prov 20:27), and in another place it says, “the Lord shall light my candle, the Lord shall illuminate my darkness. (Psa 18:28)

The Lord light my spirit (candle), and I saw something I never seen before in this scripture. It says faith comes by hearing the “WORD OF GOD”, not the words of God plural, but the WORD GOD singular!! Who is the Word of God? Jesus is the Word of God singular, not plural!!! There is only “one” Jesus Christ, not many Jesus's!!! I hate to pop any ones bubble, but, the Bible is NOT Jesus!!! The Bible contains the words of God plural. The Bible did not die for us, neither did the Bible raise from the dead, but Jesus did.

If Jesus is the Word of God (singular), and he is, then, what words (plural) does Jesus speak out his mouth? Jesus only speaks words (plural) of what he hears His Father say.

John 12:49 I don't speak on My own authority. THE FATHER WHO SENT ME HAS COMMANDED ME WHAT TO SAY AND HOW TO SAY IT.
John 12:50 And I know His commands lead to eternal life; so I SAY WHATEVER THE FATHER TELLS ME TO SAY." (NLT)

When you hear Jesus speaking you are hearing the words of God the Father coming out of his mouth!!! What am I trying to say?

When I go to Church I am listening for the “voice” of the Word of God (Jesus Christ), and when I discern his voice, I will hear the words of God the Father. Faith comes by hearing the voice of Jesus Christ speaking his Father's words!!!

No wonder Jesus said.....”My sheep hear my voice, and they follow me. The voice of a stranger they will not follow” (John 10:27) (John 10: 4-5)

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." (Romans 10:13-17 ESV)

This is talking about people being converted from people telling others about Christ and what he has done to save us. Not from Jesus but from other people sharing the good news as we were commanded by Jesus. The context does not allow for this interpretation in my opinion. It says "how are they to hear without a preacher?" not without Jesus voice. We hear from God by reading his word not somehow discerning a voice inside of us. How do you know the voice is from god and not your own desires?

The word "Christ" means "anointed". Where does Christ live? Inside every believer. When a person speaks the Word of God, who is suppose to be speaking through them? The Church's wanted proof that Christ was speaking through Paul!!! Any minister of the Gospel who is "anointed" will have Christ himself speaking through them. If not, their words will be without power to do anything!!! It is out of the abundance of the "heart" (where Christ lives) the mouth speaks, not the head.

1Pe 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

2Co 13:2 I have already warned those who had been sinning when I was there on my second visit. Now I again warn them and all others, just as I did before, that next time I will not spare them.
2Co 13:3 I will give you all the proof you want that Christ speaks through me. Christ is not weak when He deals with you; He is powerful among you. (NLT)

Even so! The first mentioned light [Prov 20:27] is the little dab of light that every man born of woman has [John 1:9]. The light is only enough to allow to see what God puts before when He calls us to Him. If and when we respond by approaching, our light will grow and become the Light which Jesus is while in the world of his own flesh [John 9:5], but we are to be the Light for others [Matt 5:14] so they may see what we have seen and maybe even more.

Amen! The Bible is very important, but how many people have Bibles in their homes on a bookshelf that rarely if ever have been opened and read? The unopened, unread Bible is NOT the Word of God for the Word of God is ALIVE. The unopened Bible is like Christ on the cross dead already, but not yet resurrected.

Seeing therefore that faith comes by hearing [submitting to and relying upon] the Word of God (Romans 10:17), therefore when "the just shall live by faith" (Habakkuk 2:4) then are the just living by hearing the Word of God. By the way we know very well that hearing means much more than mere listening.

"For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him." (John 3:34)

What does this mean? How do we hear with our hearts?
Jesus said, "my Words are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63)

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The "flesh" never profits in spiritual things (the brain, the fleshly mind in our head, with all of it's physical senses)

Jesus said......

Mat 13:13 This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
Mat 13:14 Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: "'"You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive."
Mat 13:15 For this people's heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.'

Every person Jesus taught ALL had eyes, and ears, and they ALL saw and they ALL heard what he said with their physical senses, but Jesus said they see but do not perceive, and they hear but do not understand. The reason why they could not do any of these things is because it was their "heart" (spirit of man) that had become hardened through sin. Man hears, and understands with his "heart" (his spirit) never with his brain, or hearing of our ears on our head. It is with the "heart" man believes, (Romans 10:10) and it is with his "heart" he understands spiritual things.(Matt 13:15)

No one knows the thoughts of a man except for man's "spirit" which is in him, even so no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have received NOT the spirit of this world but the Spirit of God that we might know the thoughts of God. (1 Cor 2:11)

No eye has seen, no ear has heard neither has entered into the mind of man the things he has prepared for them that love him, But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit.....(1 Cor 2: 9-10)

When God speaks to you, you will not hear anything in you brain or head, or ears, as God is a Spirit, and he only speaks to man's spirit (heart)!!!

Thanks and I agree. It sounded like you were saying that we need to wait for a voice or feeling or something.

There is no doubt the voice of Jesus can be heard within the human heart. I remember when I was a very young Christian I heard voices from the outside of me, and they were directed towards my mind. Well, the things I heard was NOT God at all, and I made a lot of bad decisions believing they were from the Lord. Jesus tells us that we should take heed "how" we hear. There are a lot of deceiving spirits out to try and get the Christian to go where the Lord is not leading them....

Luke 8:16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
Luke 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

When the Lord teaches us new things, those things come much easier to understand when we have other new things inside our heart. As each, and every scripture is true, but when they are combined with other scripture that is true they together produces "truth" that we could not have gotten any other way.
