"For My people [are] foolish, They have not known Me. They [are] silly children, And they have no understanding. They [are] wise to do evil, But to do good they have no knowledge." Jeremiah 4:22 NKJV

You might think you’re the only person who’s ever wrestled with sin. You have an adversary who is happy to let you think it’s just you, but the apostle Paul lamented that he didn’t seem to be able to get things right (Romans 7:19-25).

God called the people of Israel foolish, silly, and without understanding. They knew the right answer but chose what caused them to fail God’s test over and over—and over again.

It was as if God was saying, “I’ve tried so many times to help my people understand who I am, but they only understand evil.”

Had the people received a master’s degree in wickedness? They understood sin and knew how to apply it to their lives and relationships.

Sin is common, so you never need to think you have ever been the only one to face it, let alone found it easier to give in than make the right choice.

Don’t resist new-life living. Cooperate with God, listen to His Spirit, and walk in newness of life.

Prayer: Dear God, I have been foolish. I have been defiant: I have made the wrong choices. Help me walk away from my advanced degree in sin and change my major to new-life wisdom.

If anybody says they have no sin they are liars. 1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If I have a day without sinning, I praise God and thank him for his grace. I walk in newness of life, I have the Spirit within me, however I still have a sinful nature and on occasions the enemy comes as a roaring lion and wins a skirmish. That isn't bad, it keeps me humble and shows me I should not look upon the sins of others. I pray for them, and thank God when I see my prayers answered. blessings

Ego trumps soul as far as man is concerned. What makes me happy? What is in it for me? This is where sin enters. Listen to the lord first. Not easy, but keep trying. he has great mercy and patience. I am guilty of doing the same.
