Exams and Frustration

Dear All!

Im Jack and Im currently at University studying Maths. I know that this is where God has placed me in preparation for what he has planned for me in the future, but I am finding myself SO frustrated having to spend hours and hours and hours working on maths when I would so much rather be spending my time advancing the Kingdom of God!

I have (unimportant) exams in 3 days and then a whole term of really hard work and very important exams in about 2 months. Although Maths is alright, it doesn't compare to the awesome God that we know and I find it really hard to study Maths instead of spending more time with God. But because God has told me to go to university then I have to honour that calling.

Please pray that I can have patience that God makes all things beautiful in his time (ecc3:11 ish) and that he is refining me like silver preparing for something glorious - full of his glory, for his glory.

I get SOO frustrated having to learn all about abstract notion of maths when my heart's desire is to be serving God in my fullness.

Please pray that I can work out how to worship God in my Maths work and how to be passionate and active for God whilst trying to hold down a very time consuming degree!

Jesus Thank you that your path is always good and that you lead us in truth and into your ways. I pray that you can help me as I am obedient to where you have placed me right now. I pray that you can be glorified in my work and that I can work to honour you and as a worship to you. AMEN

I know this sounds like a stupid prayer request because it seems so immaterial, but honestly it is a big challenge for me.

I will be praying for you dear brother, think not that your request is foolish, God can use anyone, anywhere for His honor and His glory. God has placed you in your position for a reason, listen for the the still small voice to find that purpose. I pray the Lord will grant you peace and grace during your exams and your studytime. Be of good cheer, God is working.

The word of God says,be anxious for nothing but in all things through prayer and supplication make your request known to God.therefore anything that can make you anxious and undermine abundance of peace of mind is worth praying about.Okey

I am also a student at university and I sometimes go through those emotions,i can say i know where you are coming from.

Dear Brother Jack

there is nothing which is not spiritual in our life because the bible says "what ever we do, we do it for the glory of God"

you can glorify God with your Math, who knows - may be God is planing to put you among the mathematicians and others in the same profession to testify his goodness , because that is what's happening in my life now.

I have had chances to meet many people with high profiles working in UN agencies and other Government and non Government Organizations (atheists, buddiests, Hindus.....) and with less means of ways that the pastors or evangelists can reach them. i am privileged to testify the Lords Love and goodness.

i didn't had an idea what was God planing to do after i graduate ......... there where times i almost wanted to drop my studies because i wanted to go to theology school and be a full time minister ,

but what we need to do is to be obedient and do our task faithfully.

ask the Lord to give you Grace to pursue........ you will see the fruits on the appointed time.

Thank you so much for all your prayers, encouragements, and wisdom. I am so humbled that straight after posting that so many people have offered their support and cared.

I know that our lives are a worship to God but SOMETIMES after many our of obscure maths theory I REALLY struggle to worship God in it lol!

I do recognise my role as a witness as a student among mathematicans and other students, and I seek to honour that, but I feel strongly that God is preparing me for something Bigger, and being impatient as I am I want it now Hence the frustration!

But, in earnestness, thank you so much for your prayer, it means more than you know, Be blessed all of you, I see Jesus in you!

i will have you in my prayers brother, i understand your frustration, there are times i too become very annoyed at the pile of work in front of me and long to run and hide in the word Of God but i try to remember God has blessed me the gifts i have and so i try to work harder and remind myself the day will come when the work i have done will enable me to help people Gods children and that makes it all worth it.

I am glad there are different members of the body! God in His wisdom chose you to do this...why? I don't know. Rest assured though that He does!

Brother, Mathematics are really quite honourable to God. You see, they are the only pure study there is, as far as this world goes. One plus one ONLY EVER equals two. It is true. So I encourage you to see that all that the Lord has put together is true, and to seek His wonderful glory in the facts that He has laid before us.

Most of us never go near the field you are in. We take it all for granted, a bit like our ability to stand up..... when you start to think about it, it really is an amazing feat! So too, with maths. It's ability to stand up and remain true, testifies to the Holiness of God, in that all creation is made by Him in perfection and is held together by Him for His glory.

So I pray you see the wonder of discovering the complex solutions and paths to achieve an answer that proves again the pureness of God in Jesus Christ the Lord. In other words, my brother, that you become excited with the revelation of truths, that testify to the Lord in what you do.

I hope this makes sense to you.

I also pray that you know the strength of the Lord and His joy, that in having it, you will not only be able to do your abstract notion of maths to recieve top grades, but that you jump into it with great excitement and find it really fulfilling to your life.

You can glorify God in everything you do, even working out.
I know how you feel, I find studying such a waste of time too, but still, it's inevitable, otherwise you will fail and waste even much more time.

Keep your bible next to you while studying, I do that, and read a few chapters as a break, it'll pull your attention together and warm you up to more studying and in the same time you'll worship God.

Plus you can study Maths while listening to Christian music or Audio sermons and so on,
It's Maths, you can multitask I guess...

I hope the exams are going good, don't be frustrated, be happy cause you know oneday exams will be over and studying will pay off!
