Hello there,

Eternal Covenants:-
Genesis 9:16 - between God and every living creature upon the earth after the flood.
Genesis 17:7,8 & 13, 1 Chronicles 16:17, Psalms 105:10 - between God and Abraham and His seed concerning the land.
Genesis 17:19 - between God and Abraham concerning His seed.
Leviticus 24:8 - with Israel concerning the shew bread for the tabernacle.
2 Samuel 23:5 - between God and David concerning His house
Isaiah 55:4 - With everyone that thirsteth
Jeremiah 32:10, Ezekiel 16:60 - The New Covenant to be established by God with Israel and Judah.
Ezekiel 37:26 - A covenant of peace - to be made with Israel.
Hebrews 13:20 - The blood of the New Covenant.

* The covenant established at Sinai between God and the children of Israel is not called an everlasting covenant: this is the covenant which Israel has broken (Isaiah 24:5) it is this covenant which will be replaced by the New Covenant which God will make with Israel and Judah, in that day of Israel's repentance (Jeremiah 31 and Hebrews 8 )

Jesus brought into effect the New Covenant already.

Hebrews 8:3-10

King James Version

3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:”

Hebrews 12:24
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Jesus brought into effect the New Covenant already.

Hebrews 8:3-10

Hebrews 12:24

'But now hath He obtained a more excellent ministry,
by how much also He is the mediator of a better covenant,
which was established upon better promises.
For if that first covenant had been faultless,
then should no place have been sought for the second.
For finding fault with them, He saith,
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers
in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
.. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord;
.... I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts:
...... and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
........ And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother,
.......... saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
............ For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness,
.............. and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
................ In that He saith, A new covenant, He hath made the first old.
.................. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.'
(Heb 8:6-13)

Hello @StewardoftheMystery,

Thank you for responding.

You have used Hebrews 8:3-10 as a proof text that the New Covenant is in operation today: yet the following verses describe what would be in evidence should that be the case, and I do not see those proofs in evidence in the world today, do you? Far from it.

In Hebrews 8:6-13 it says that 'that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away', it does not say that it had done so: and with the rejection of their Messiah on the part of the People of Israel, both in the land and in the diaspora, Israel as a nation was scattered, and ceased to be a nation in AD70, a sign that the Lo-ammi condition of being, 'not my People' was in place (see the book of Judges). Blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles has come in.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Mediator of the New Covenant, and His blood shed is the blood of the covenant, but it is in abeyance at this present time.

Thank you

Wrong, it is not in abeyance. The New Covenant/ Testament went into effect with the death of the Testator Jesus Christ. It is not in a state of suspension as you suggest.

Hebrews 9:14-18

King James Version

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.”

According to the words of God the New Covenant/Testament is in force, and has been in force when Jesus shed his blood and died.

Now the prophecy of “after those days” concerning Israel receiving the Spirit of grace “after the fullness of the Gentiles” comes in, is yet future.

But Jesus Christ brought into force the New Covenant by His death and the sprinkling of His own blood.

Paul is talking about the New Covenant/Testament below, where God writes His words on the hearts/ minds of both Jew and Gentile by the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:2-16

King James Version

2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.”

God is going to remove that vail from the minds of the children of Israel, after the fullness of the Gentiles is fulfilled.

May I throw a bone in The Gumbo mix.

“The New covenant is not a brand new covenant like brand New but It is A “Fulfilling of another Covenant. And That Covenant was made And Ratified by “GOD” Himself and He would make it Come to Pass.

That Covenant was The Covenant That GOD made to or with “Abraham” The Abrahamic Covenant, when GOD could swear by no Greater, He Swore by Himself.

And That Covenant, “The Abrahamic Covenant was Fulfilled and came into to be through Christ Jesus. the Anointed of GOD!

So Really no New One but The Fulfillment of a Promise That he Gave To “ABRAHAM” in Genesis. When GOD could not Swear by any Greater. He Swore by Himself, He would Bring it To pass!

In my younger years I heard some “Theologians” talk about this, but I could not get it in solid depth.

But oh LORD when time beginning to pass as I continue to read by Bible day in and day out, it Enfolded to me, not looking for it, but it wrapped its arms around Me and cuddle me tight.

and GOD embrace me with its “TRUTH”.

“Sweet Jesus”.

I know all the importants of the other covenants in between.

But The Fulfillment of That Covenant, The Abrahamic one, LORD have Mercy.
It could not “Falter
”.

A long time ago I just could not grasp the whole concept.

I understood it, but to much drama was there between “Abraham and The Cross” until The “Spirit of GOD” and The “Discipline hand of GOD the Father. Worked on me. Molding me in His Word. :pensive:

Christ, the seed of promise, and the promise of the Spirit= everlasting Covenant

Galatians 3:7-29

King James Version

7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
