"Even if Jesus didn't smoke weed, he'd still be a stoner"

Active
Subject is quote from from article. If this doesn't sum up the sad state of affairs of today's Christianity, I don't know what does!

"Jesus was peaceful and loving. He went from house to house and was always accepted," she explained. "Only a stoner could do that."

The creed includes weed for these Colorado Christians - LA Times

Would love to hear other's thoughts . . . I'm kinda speechless.

It isn't just Colorado. (Washington had the legal weed first)
Much like homosexuality here.... the mindset with many Christians is... if it's legal, it must be OK.

Of course adultery is legal. Pornography is legal. Abortion is legal.
There are cars with bumper stickers here.... "I'm a Christian that believes in homosexual marriages".

I recently lost my father a few years ago. Before homosexuality was nationally legalized.
He still couldn't believe Americans voted for feminism back in his generation. Yet we think nothing
of it now.

It's not about the legalization of pot - I don't really care about that. it's the incorporation of it into worship and Bible study, of claiming Jesus would be a stoner. I recommend reading the article.

From the article: "But religions are conflicted about pot."

Religion might be. It is a mish mash of all sorts of ridiculous dogma and behaviour. However, this whole notion about pot is a sad excuse for people to do what they want. It's a deception from Satan himself, who infiltrates where the armor of God is absent!

We are warned in God's word to be ever vigilant and diligent against the wiles of the devil, against his cunning deception, but far too many people are merely pew-warmers and nominal Christians who have never really met the Saviour. These are those whom Jesus will say, "Depart from me, for I never knew you."

The demarcation between the wheat and the tare is beginning to reveal itself. We ought to be fervent in our delivery of the gospel of Jesus Christ, but now begin to turn our eyes to the sky for our Bridegroom is about to step over the threshold of heaven.

Sorry, it is ridiculous! It's best you stick to the Bible and the Gospel and stay away from false Christianity! Those people need to get high on Jesus not pot; That's just my thoughts.

Two parts really stuck out for me when reading the article.

"The United Methodist, Presbyterian and Episcopal churches approve of medical marijuana in keeping with Matthew 25:35, in which Jesus talks about relieving suffering."

Is anyone surprised that the above mentioned churches don't have an issue with it? What else have these churches approved of that would have their founders rolling over in the grave if that were possible?

"If weed were more welcome in church, you would see a spiritual revolution," Button predicted.

"Talk about people flooding in," Williams said.

They looked at each other and giggled.

"Oh, man, I am so high," Button said
.

It's women & men who desire to be children looking for a good time or an escape from reality. I wonder what their reaction is when they Bible Study the Crucifixion or have Communion? You think they might laugh at that or do they avoid the subject altogether because it would be a bummer and mess with their high?

Some verses to consider.

Keeping of our bodies:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your reasonable service. Romans 312:1

Sound mind:
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Escaping Temptation:
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God [is] faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear [it]. 1 Corinthians 10:13

Desires, Cravings, for what is Forbidden:
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16

Watchful & Sober while high?
Therefore let us not sleep, as others [do], but let us watch and be sober. 1 Thessalonians 5:6

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 1 Peter 4:7

Being Sober & Vigilance are not words to describe those who are high:
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

We must pray for such as these. Sadly, they could not find the joy of the Lord even through the pain of suffering and disappointment we all experience. Not realizing that is when you truly find His Spirit lifting you up, embracing you in an indescribably awesomeness of love and peace that can't be faked or replaced. Lacking that. In place of the Eternal. They have found only a temporary, fake substitute, and unknowingly moved further away instead of closer to the divine.

:(

This sums it up perfectly.

Satan never takes time off from his work. He's take the promise rainbow & has made people believe it stands for gay pride. I can't wait to stomp Satan's head into the pavement!!!!!

Pot is no good. It makes you idolize the drug rather than praise Jesus. A stoner is someone who always smokes that stuff, and people become addicted!

It's a form a drunkeness.
Addiction= a slave to earthly desires.

I don't know about all that. Pot has never been shown to be addictive. I smoked it in my youth, I never was addicted. There were no withdrawal symptoms when I stopped.

However, it definitely is idolatry as described in this article.

I recently went through it. 2 years and I could not stop.
I had many withdrawal symptoms, to the point I had many relapses and went back to it!
The effects vary from one person to another. Nevertheless, it is a form of idolatry and it can become a major stumbling block in the good faith.

Why are you speechless brother? It's no surprise people are delusional and ignorant. They conform Jesus to what they want Him to be. But, in the end they'll find out who He really is.

Jesus warned us about this many times in the Gospel.

Be sober minded; weed alters the mind.

It is a seed plant and God did create It, and He said these things are good. And He said what goes in the mouth isn't what defiles the man, but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles the man.

As for idolatry, I suppose our own home we return to every evening, after we go into the world for its treasures, is more idolized then weed.

Why not stick to the Word of God? Don't pick apart someone else's habits and we do the same, maybe with a different item but the same stumbling about.

Everyday I hate myself and my life in this world; I see no point to buy and sell and build and plant anymore. I believe the Word; there is no one whole heartedly following the Lord. No one has forsaken all, or home or land, mother or father, child or grandchild, or even our own self.

There is nothing that will harm me.
If you are one that believes a weed has power over you, say NO. Don't criticise someone regardless what habit they may have, tell them about Jesus and let Him do the cleansing properly; you see He does it from the inside out and it is good. Amen
Many appear cleansed (on the outside) but the inside is rotten fruit dripping goo.
All praise glory and honor be unto God Amen

I'm sorry but it is not biblical at all to remain silent when we see sin. The world tends to call it "being judgmental" or "intolerant" or (to use your words) "picking apart". Jesus never told us to remain silent when we see other believers committing sin (these people are calling themselves Christians). Ignoring other Christians calling Jesus a stoner doesn't bring the sin out into the light.

If a man's heart condemn him, to him it is sin.
How does our heart condemn us and it is someone else doing it?

Most want to year apart someone else for what they may see them doing. For what? That is not our job; telling them about Jesus and repenting is...our job.

So why not do our part in Him and leave our precious sensitivities lay on the ground?

I hate this world. Everybody want to point at someone else and no one is right. What does it accomplish brow beating someone with their sins, and everyone here is buying and selling, building and planting, marries or is given in marriage.
Everybody is going about doing what they want to do and when they want to do it. Everybody.

Yes, the churches has it so right God has some mighty warnings for the churches in Revelations.

Judge our own self first.
Stick with the Word, and preach repentance. Leave convicting and cleansing to God; just preach the Word of God, it is conviction (to self first).

For God's sake, Love them.

For God's sake, Love them.
No one is judging anyone, and it is possible to rebuke out of love. You say to leave everyone alone in one breath, and then in the next you say to preach repentance. Repentance from what? Their sins? How does one preach repentance if pointing
out their sins is judging them and brow beating them?

I have no quarrel with you, Sister, and I'll drop this here. I hope your day will be greatly blessed!

Preaching repentance does not require our own personal sensitivities input; it requires love God first, do unto others as we would do unto the Lord and have no respector of persons; speak in Spirit and in Truth. Amen

I didn’t read the article but right off the bat, any article doesn’t define our Jesus. The Holy Bible defines our Jesus. Simple as that.
