Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn't, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up." Daniel 3:16-18 NLT
Have you ever prayed for God to get you out of what seemed like an unsolvable pickle, only to hear nothing from Him but silence? Sometimes, we think that if we just pray about a certain pressing situation, He’ll come through for us, and promptly. But God doesn’t always work that way. In fact, sometimes He leaves us in a tough situation…and for reasons only He understands.
How do you respond when you don’t immediately receive the deliverance you’ve prayed for? You won’t go wrong when you take the same approach Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego took—remain steadfast in your relationship with God and refuse to compromise as you wait for answers.
Prayer: Glorious Father, I’ve learned that there will be times in life when You don’t deliver me from my problems. Though my flesh may want to cry “It’s not fair!” I want You to strengthen me and give me courage to worship You and You alone, especially when You allow me to suffer.
