Evangelism
Evangelism is more a lifestyle than a vocation. Sure, there are evangelists, but we are all involved in evangelism. Or at least it's God's desire that we all are. The last instruction Jesus gave His followers before He left Earth was, "Go and make disciples of all peoples". Now let's stop and think about that for just a moment. Last words carry extra weight. When someone knows they are leaving for a long time, or when a loved one knows they are dying, they tend to leave those behind with final words of importance. Last commands - Departing instructions. Perhaps we should review those last words of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ...
It appears the idea is that as we go - as we journey through life - we must be focused on replicating our experience in others. That is called evangelism. The best example of true lifestyle evangelism can be found in the book of Acts. After the followers of Christ were filled with the Holy Spirit, they spread out across the known world and "spoke the Word of God boldly". They stepped out in faith and shared their testimony wherever they went. They spoke of what they knew, and they knew Jesus.
They also did not hesitate to put their careers, their finances, and even their lives on the line for Him. Remember, love God first and foremost, and then love others like Jesus loved you - by laying down His life. If you really believe in Heaven and Hell, then what could be more important than changing someone's eternity? For His Kingdom to be established, there must be people to inhabit that kingdom. What good is a kingdom without inhabitants? Jesus told us that the lost are searching, but He prayed that we would go out and lead them to life everlasting. God be with us as we go...
