How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights. For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see. Psalm 36:7-9
Today's passage is filled with pictures of God's love. His love is defined by wings, banquets, tankards, and cascading light. These may sound like odd examples of love, but keep reading to see how each of these items reveals the heart of a trustworthy God.
Wings--The psalmist shows a God who shields, shades, and protects. You're always safe when you accept the security of His wings.
Banquet--God wants to be clear. His love chooses to meet your needs. He loves you, and your needs are important to Him.
Water--You can't live without water. Like water, love offers refreshment and clear thinking.
Light--Light doesn't just eliminate darkness. It also allows you to discover things that were hidden in the shadows.
Love God enough to trust Him and gain access to protection, compassion, refreshment, and wisdom.
Prayer: Lord, You chose to love me. I can't offer You anything but my heart. You demonstrate love in so many ways that when I accept it I begin to understand the value of Your protection, care, and wisdom. Help me to trust You so I can learn more about Your heart.
