When they returned to the crowd, a man came to Jesus, knelt before him, and said, "Sir, have mercy on my son! He is an epileptic and has such terrible attacks that he often falls in the fire or into water. I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him." Jesus answered, "How unbelieving and wrong you people are! How long must I stay with you? How long do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy here to me!" Jesus gave a command to the demon, and it went out of the boy, and at that very moment he was healed. Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked him, "Why couldn't we drive the demon out?" "It was because you do not have enough faith," answered Jesus. "I assure you that if you have faith as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this hill, 'Go from here to there!' and it will go. You could do anything!"

Lacking faith is something we all do and it always brings us down to the point of us thinking we are no good or not up to the task before us. The fact remains, Jesus would not have come to us to teach us if we were not up to the task. Our lacking is our lacking, we determine what level of faith we have or will have. The Lord gives us all the ability to have faith, but our faith is based on what we choose to believe and what we disregard. There is no limit to what we can do in Christ, Christ saw to that. The problem is entirely us and our lacking of belief and faith. If it’s unbelievable to our minds we shut it down, but faith is not for the mind, faith is for the heart and it’s in the heart we live it. The mind is a place for belief or Human Wisdom. Human wisdom will not give you faith, because faith is controlled with the heart not the mind. If indeed you seek faith or to have faith in Christ and His promises, use your heart and trust in the living God to be true to His promises. Jesus said “You could do anything” Why would He lie? Faith is of the heart and the heart only gives birth to real faith were you and I can do anything in Him. When we fail faith, we fail it because we make the mistake of thinking faith is of the mind and based on wisdom.
When it comes to faith, we take a lesson from the military “it’s not for us to reason why, but to do and die”. We are not meant to reason why this happens or why it does not happen or how it happens. It’s just a matter of doing and trusting, without our minds saying ‘No’ it can’t happen. How many have said unto themselves, what if it doesn’t work? Reasoning faith with the mind will prevent you from entering in to the Master and as Jesus said to the disciples,’ How long must I put up with you’. So He will say this to us as well. Faith is not a point of reasoning with our intellect or wisdom, take Noah and the ark. Here is a man that lived in a desert were rain was not a thought. Yet the Father commanded him to build a boat in a place it does not rain. Yet Noah did not reason this command, he just built the ark. We all know the story. What if Noah reasoned it with his mind? What then….
Faith is not a matter of the mind nor can it be reasoned, who can measure a hill on a scale, who can hold the ocean in a cup. Who among us can instruct the Father on what He can do or can’t do ? It’s enough for us to just except He is God, maker of Heaven and Earth and our Father who has our best interest at heart. Don’t make the terrible mistake of reasoning faith with the mind, rather real faith is a matter of trusting in the Living God, our Father and His Son Jesus Christ who said “You can do anything”.
