For God is not [the author] of confusion but of peace…. 1 Corinthians 14:33

God has His own way of doing things, and He thinks differently than you do (Isaiah 55:8), so if His Word seems confusing, maybe you came to Him confused.

God offers illumination for life’s next step, perspective for your purpose in life, and directions for personal choice (See Psalm 119:105; Jeremiah 29:11; proverbs 16:9). He’s never been confused, and confusion is not a part of His plan for you either.

If you hear a perspective that differs from God’s Word, refuse to be confused. Always reply on the clarity of what God has actually said. John 8:32 was directed to those who follow Jesus: “’You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”

The reason God’s truth may seem confusing at times is because it differs from what many accept as truth. Spending time with common thinking can result in a rejection of many scriptures. When that happens there’s an unintended plan to rewrite the God-given concepts.

Following God’s truth will challenge your thinking, but when you understand that any confusion you experience is a result of inaccurate thinking that doesn’t include God, then it becomes easier to let what He has said change your opinions, behaviors, and allegiances. Man’s greatest confusion comes in trusting his own thinking—or rejecting God’s.
