Does a believer still possess a carnal mind

It would seem that we have a member or two that believe they are free from the carnal mind after their salvation, so we will put this question to the group.

Do you still have a carnal mind? Or has God removed that mind so that you will never sin again from the day you were born again until the day you die?

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “the Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Acts 26:17, 18 …I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

James 1:15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Romans 6:2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

1 John 5:18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.

1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

1 John 3:6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Ephesians 1:21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Ephesians 6:12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Matthew 15:15Peter said to Him, “Explain the parable to us.” 16Jesus said, “Are you still lacking in understanding also? 17“Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? 18“But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. 19“For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. 20“These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”

Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Galatians 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

Ephesians 2:2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

Ephesians 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

Ephesians 2:11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)--

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

John 1:12 As many as received Him, to them gave He power to BECOME the sons of God...... That destiny for each son whom the Father has called will be obtained individually on the
cross that God has provided for each son.

Luke 9:23 And He said to them all, If any man will come after me, let Him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Now why would one have to deny himself, unless he/she had a mind that was at odds with the will of God? This does not mean they know it. And the purpose for the daily cross? To keep
that mind hanging on it until it dies.

Luke 14:27 "Whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be my disciple."

When was the first time any of us truly knew we actually had a carnal mind? Was it not after we understood we were born with one? After salvation and study?
So where did that mind go after you were saved?
It is still with you as it has been designed to be your enemy throughout the rest of your life, thus the necessity for your daily cross, to kill it. Why? As the carnal mind is destroyed
the New creature within you will mature and become stronger so that it will be able to control the body that you possess, your earthen vessel.

1 Co 1:18 "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the POWER OF GOD."
The cross is the way that God has chosen to separate you from this enemy. The objective is to kill your self-will and fleshly pride, both of these personify your enmity to Him. Your inability
to understand Him.

Ephesians 4:22-24"Put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. And that ye put on
the New man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."

How does one put off what one does not have concerning a carnal mind, the OLD MAN? If you truly do not have one then you are perfect already and have no need for a daily cross.
But since no one but Jesus has been perfected yet it is still with you, unless your dead then your free from it.

Satan and his minions work to corrupt us through our senses which are inputs to the mind. Tempting each according to their previous sins.

How do we understand "if thine eye offend thee pluck it out?" "If thine hand or foot offend thee, cut them off and cast them from thee?" What you see with the eye can cause back sliding
due to lust. The hand can steal, the foot takes you where you should not be if the New Man were fully developed within you.

Until you understand that the carnal mind has been left IN YOU as YOUR ADVERSARY you will never defeat it for you have been convinced it does not exist in you. Which is the greatest
trick of satan's, making all believe he does not exist either.

Jesus said in

John 3:6-7

King James Version

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”

In the above Jesus is talking about the sin nature in man when referring to those who are born of the “flesh”. This sin nature in our first man is carnally minded. Those who are not yet born again of the Spirit of God are still in the flesh and are also still carnally minded. This is why we must be born again and given a new heart and mind by spiritual rebirth.

So when we are born again of Gods Spirit we are no longer in the flesh, but in the Spirit. And we are no longer carnally minded, but now we are spiritually minded. We no longer serve sin, but now we serve righteousness.

Romans 8:1-14

King James Version

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

We are servants to whom we obey, you cannot serve sin and serve God.

Romans 6:16
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Those who serve sin are of the Devil. Those who serve Righteousness are of God.

It sounds like you are contradicting what you say at the end.

Do you still have a carnal mind? Or has God removed that mind so that you will never sin again from the day you were born again until the day you die?
1 Corinthians 3:1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Makes me think of this ongoing debate in all Christian forums; Calvinism Vs. Arminianism

Would it behoove anyone to be impartial and take no sides in discerning with Him errors that may be reproved by the Scripture on both sides to get to the truth by His grace & by His help?

Anyway, if babes in Christ can be considered carnal, maybe believers should reserve judgment as to those that are carnal as being unsaved when they are saved.

Besides that, Jesus seems to refer to those astray as the little ones.

Matthew 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

So if unrepentant and excommunicated by the church, and if still unrepentant when the Bridegroom comes, and excommunicated from attending the Marriage Supper above, Jesus will get that lost sheep left behind as He will finish His work in them to His glory as they shall be vessels of wood & earth in His House testifying of the power of God in salvation for all those who believe in Him, even in His name for why there are vessels unto dishonor in His House that were not ready but left behind for being workers of iniquity or had their faith overthrown by the lie of the evolution theory or something else. Jesus Christ is really that Good Shepherd and He will lose none of all the Father has given Him.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

That is why the five foolish virgins that ARE the kingdom of heaven along with the five wise virgins were denied by Him to attend the wedding reception for being in iniquity but still within that kingdom of heaven that they are a part of.

Matthew 25:1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

So even those we address as carnal believers living in sin, they are still saved but called to depart from iniquity or else, they will miss out on the rapture event, left behind to face that fiery calamity on a third of the earth Revelation 8:7 KJV that will set up the coming great tribulation for the rest of the world, but even though cast into the bed of the great tribulation, they are not cast out of His kingdom for when they die, their spirits will be with the Lord in Heaven awaiting for their resurrection after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor in His House, the vessels of wood & earth. That means the prodigal son cannot get his inheritance back from spending it on wild living, but he will find that he is still son.

Explain how you see that?
This is the second post now that you made presenting your opinion against me saying we have to obey and make our minds obedient...but then the last thing you said on each post contradicts what you say.
In your last sentence you speak of "defeating it", but you go against me for saying we have to overcome it.

Not exactly. You said that you didn't have a carnal mind, so how would you be teaching overcoming what you claimed you didn't have?
Maybe you have changed your belief on this issue now?
I will rephrase that sentence. I am saying that the carnal mind will be with you until you die. Your objective is to keep it on your own cross until that time.

Do you still have a carnal mind?
ABSOLUTELY!!! Paul in his writings is very HONEST about the struggles he has with his "Old Man" and how he has to "Crucify the flesh" daily. The same is certainly true for me.

Not exactly. You said that you didn't have a carnal mind, so how would you be teaching overcoming what you claimed you didn't have?
Wow.
lol
By OBEYING JESUS.

Maybe you have changed your belief on this issue now?
No way.
I will rephrase that sentence. I am saying that the carnal mind will be with you until you die.
No such thing as a carnal mind being with someone who obeys.

A carnal mind is a mind that only wants to please its flesh with sin.
Your objective is to keep it on your own cross until that time.
You don't crucify yourself to sin on that cross, then you are not born again and you did NOT ENTER.

That is not what Paul says. That is what false preachers with no understanding say. Those preachers went to seminary school and merely repeat false teachings. If anyone wants Jesus to be their Teacher, all they have to do is get his teachings in the New Testament and do what he says to do.
It isn't about what your school of choice tells you what to do.

Then why do you still SIN???

Who says I do, accuser?
You're HUMAN just like everybody else. And you're still TEMPTED out of YOUR OWN LUST just like everybody else. And sometimes you allow it to "conceive" like everybody else.
There are a few folks here who actually THINK they're perfect. Are you one of 'em????

False accuser.

Speak for yourself.

Jesus made me holy and perfect when he saved me, and I live up to that.
If I did sin AS I TRAIN myself and work out my salvation I am to repent of it.
You acting like a person can just sin as always is a lie.

@Bob Carabbio

You falsely accused me of sinning.

Now you want to confess that you never gave up any sins for Jesus?
Chuckle!!! Romans 8:28-29 is the answer to that one, and also Mat 11:29.

I'm not what I was in 1963, when the journey started. And even though I'm POSITIONALLY PERFECT (in Jesus), I've still got a way to go to be Experimentally Perfect - like everybody else.

In FACT I'll never get there in this life.

Chuckle!!!
You think you are funny after falsely accusing someone?
Romans 8:28-29 is the answer to that one,

What do you think you disproved with that scriptures?

and also Mat 11:29.

I'm not what I was in 1963, when the journey started. And even though I'm POSITIONALLY PERFECT (in Jesus), I've still got a way to go to be Experimentally Perfect - like everybody else.
You shouldn't go around telling other people they are sinning.
In FACT I'll never get there in this life.
We have to overcome.
You aren't doing right though if you preach against repenting of your sins to Jesus and going against those who preach that.
It makes you working alright, but for the wrong side.

1 John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9- If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness. 10- If we say that we have not sinned, then we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
