Do you?

The United States is one of the most unhealthy when it comes to the foods and drinks we consume. If you exclude things you know are bad for you (like sugar filled food and drink when you are diabetic), you still must deal with all the bad things found in processed foods that are pushed as completely safe when they are "often" not.

So... do you pray before each meal and ask God to bless your food and make it good for you? I do, and accept in faith that God does. Does God want us unhealthy and die before our times due to our unhealthy food? NO!! Asking God to bless our food may be traditional for older people, less common among the young, but even those that do ask the blessing often do it out of tradition and not of faith and need.

Now purposely eating foods you know are bad for you, and wanting God to make it "good" for you through asking blessings on it is certainly problematic. If thats all you can afford or all thats available, I dont doubt our God would bless it, but if you can afford and buy better, healthier food, but dont because you are catering to the lust of your appetite, your prayers will be in vain. If you can grow your own foods without pesticides or herbicides, you need to spend the time to do so with a garden of your own, and be willing to share your food with those around you who are hungry.

The only scripture that comes to mind is this one.

Mark 16:18-19 They will pick up snakes and drink poison without being hurt.

I have got into the habit of praying before every meal too. Need to be grateful.

Pro 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
