I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. Psalm 85:8
There are many different voices speaking to you today from your relationships, television, radio, and computer. Even your own internal monologues can grow quite noisy and bossy. As you hear these many voices pushing and pulling you in several directions and toward various priorities, you're challenged to stop and ask: "Am I listening to what God is saying?"
Perhaps you should work backwards. Are you hearing words of peace? If you aren't hearing words of peace and hope, then it may be time to hit the pause button.
God doesn't speak fear to His faithful people. There may be people who claim to speak for God, but if they aren't speaking of God's faithfulness and peace to the faithful, then they aren't hearing from God. Even those who miss out on God's peace or who submit themselves to the many voices of this world are seeking the same thing: peace. The trouble is that so many counterfeits for peace exist in the world.
When you turn your heart toward God, you will find the peace that you crave and tend to seek in so many other places. God is already speaking peace to you. Are you listening?
