Do we forget all when we pass away?

I've searched the forums and read other threads for 2 hours now, still not finding a direct answer to my question here. Forgive me if it has been brought up and I've looked over it.

A friend of mine recently brought up a concept to me that I had never heard of before, citing Ecclesiastes ch. 9 and Job ch. 14 as evidence that when we have passed on from this world, we will have no recollection of anything from our worldly lives. This would include family/relationships, no?

Ecclesiastes 9:4-6, 10
4For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

5For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

6Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

...

10Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Job 14:14-22
14If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

15Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

16For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

17My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.

18And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.

19The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.

20Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

21His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

22But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.

My conclusion on Ecclesiastes is that the book is pretty much just referring to worldly physical life and doesn't really go much further beyond that. It is a book that is certainly meant to be taken literally.

For example, 9:10, if interpreted in a spiritual sense, would suggest that if/when we get to Heaven, we have nothing to do, and no recollection of anything from our previous worldly life. However, I do not believe that it should be interpreted in a spiritual sense. There is no mention of Heaven or any other sort of "afterlife" whatsoever in all of Chapter 9. In 9:10, it simply says "the grave."

Therefore, if taken literally, it is suggesting that a dead human body does not know anything, does not feel (or express) love/hate/envy, has no work to do, no activity in which to partake, and no wisdom/knowledge. Which of course is true.

I am currently interpreting Job 14:21 simply as being that one is unaware of what is happening in the world once they have passed away. But I do not take this as evidence that we forget our worldly life altogether.

Still praying for understanding on these topics. After all this time I would've thought that this would've come to my attention much sooner! But my heart is open to the truth. Perhaps someone here can help, too.

God bless!

You might not believe me? but ,if you hear the HOLY GHOST ?ASK HIM!

But i have been DEAD twice ,once before Born Again and once aftwer!
We are dead ,when our spirit ,who is our eternal part leaves these bodies!
You know everything ,You see better and hear better?
I do not know how as ,when I died ,I tried to see my body. I had none I could see!

But i saw NEW JERUSALEM , I was there with in a blink of an eye or faster. I did not enter our city. But spoke to the LORd ,Which i did not see.
But ,saw HIS glory lighting our city .

I I asked HIm could i return for my familys sake .He said yes , But i would suffer. I said LORD ,I do not mind suffering for my familys sake.

I also had told Him, I did not want to go back. But thought they needed me

I knew the city was traveling fast in a space that was not our solar system , because there were no stars or lights
but HIS glory lighting our city.
I also knew, i could enter the city , but would not want to go back to earth!

I have looked for Him to call us every day ,I guess since then !

Our eternal part ,our Spirit has a mind .I do not fully understand it .But think our flesh minds knowledge in our our Spirit mind as well. or they go together once we dump this body?

Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

This mind is in our Spirit .it is not in our fleshly mind, But we are to take it on in our fleshly mind!

Here HE is saying ,that our fleshly mind ,needs to accept the MIND of CHRIST .
Meaning, we accept His living words as TRUTH!
We get the correct understanding from the HOLY GHOST .

The Sound mind is the mind of Christ ,which we have in our new creature!
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

The new creature is the new man. inner man, inward man, hidden man.
That is our Spirit!
When we die the true eternal us ,leaves the body.

People do not understand, that He promises us the desires of our Heart. Our Heart is our Spirit. Those desires are the same as our LORDS!

They are Not for worldly things!

But, GOD is dealing with us in the eternal first ,which is much more important ,than the now.

He is looking for you to gain eternal life and rewards in heaven as any Good dad thinks ahead for His children!
