Epicurus knew not the Lord and therefore the 'irony/paradox' comes from and excites minds that have no knowledge of Him Who is the Truth.

But if there is discrepancy in the Bible and in our ideologies, shouldn't we explore that?

If God had wanted to prevent evil, he would not have created Satan. I believe God wishes to have a loving relationship with mankind, mankind is drawn to God because of his problem with sin. Man has a spirit and a soul. The soul consists of mans flesh, his intellect and his will. His spirit consists of his intuition, his conscience and his communion. The fact that he has a soul and a spirit causes him a dilemma. Satan tempts him, one might say for instance with a forbidden fruit. His flesh desires it, his intellect reasons that it will do him no harm and his will decides to eat it. However his intuition causes him to hesitate, after all this fruit is forbidden, his conscience calls him to reconsider, but because his communion is no longer active because of the fall of Adam, his spirit no longer has any power to resist his soul, so he sins by eating a fruit that is forbidden and because of the dilemma the man feels guilt and has no joy and so, like the apostle Paul, cries out what a wretched man I am, who will deliver me from this body of death. Then, if he is fortunate, he comes across Jesus who receives him, fills him with the Spirit of God who enlivens his communion with the Father and gives him the grace to resist the devil, who then flees from him. Just a thought to get us all thinking guys. bless you Trevor.
