Hi! I'm really disappointed at my dad these days. He seems unwilling to live life to the fullest. All he wants is to get by through self-pity. I try to see him beyond that but it gets really disappointing that often, I have to physically hold myself back from yelling at him. I pray that my dad will be guided by the Holy Spirit but more so, I pray that I will be guided by the Holy Spirit and that this feeling of disappointment and anger will soon go away.

hi shibby_gurl! I know that you love your dad so much. having disappointment in a parent is very hard because growing up we look to them as our role model. that's what you want, a dad that you can be proud of. when your dad is not living life to the fullest and his "safe zone" is having self-pity, he probably just wants love. it is understandable to yell at him when he seem to not understand that the life God has for him is so much bigger. having an urge to yell at him probably comes from anger, but most of all you just want him to realize. the holy spirit does guide us in life. even when you feel disappointment and anger towards your dad, you have a God that will heal you from that. you are fighting for your dads life and God WILL restore him. keep praying on and don't give up. have FAITH. I hope this helped a bit. God Bless!

Its hard to see someone we love doing things that hurt themselves and others around them. I will gladly pray for you both, but since the Lord values choice in our lives, He cant force people to act more in accordance with the will of the Holy Spirit, but since you do wish to be more in the will of the Holy Spirit, I gladly pray for that, for that is what God will quickly work on as its good for you and you requested it in earnest. But understand that sometimes we get what we pray for, and its not always easy to deal with, for the better vessels are fired to make them strong and beautiful.

My dad doesn't believe in God ever since I was a kid. He'd go to church with us but he only goes because my mom makes him. Or he doesn't have anything else to do. But he doesn't love God from the heart, his heart. He doesn't seek God's help. Never has. I used to be like that too but thankfully, I found God in my 20s and He has been a permanent part of my life since then. I wished the same thing for my dad. That he learn to love God with all his being.
