"And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23-24
When Jesus told His disciples about their access to God the Father, He informed them that this was unfamiliar ground. They had never done anything quite like approaching God as their loving Father.
Jesus provides an ongoing promise that applies to every Christian, but are you taking Him up on it daily? Jesus even offers a clue to determine whether you're fully availing yourself of your connection with the Father: Are you experiencing the abundant joy He promised?
While there surely are many challenging circumstances in life that could cause you sorrow there is joy to be found in your connection with God. If you're presenting your requests to God on the basis of your relationship with Jesus, then you'll experience the joy of the Lord in your life.
What you ask will certainly need to be in accordance with the will of Christ. This isn't a blank check. Rather, God is inviting you into the abundant joy of living daily as His beloved child. You have an open invitation to bring your requests to Him.
Prayer: Father, I trust that You have given me full access to You as a son.
