And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. Mark 1:35 ESV
It’s possible you could argue that Jesus was shaken when you read the first chapter of Mark. But you’d be wrong. Yes, Jesus prayed, but praying isn’t the act of a shaken man. It’s the mark of the courageous. Prayer is admitting you want something better. It’s being willing to ask God for something you know He wants you to have.
Jesus wasn’t worried or anxious. He rose early in the morning. He didn’t want distractions, so He sought a private place for a very personal conversation with God.
Unshaken people pray deliberately, seriously, and determinedly. Prayer is not a last resort, a little-used option, or a personal obligation. It is a powerful moment when someone God created takes the opportunity to talk to the Creator.
Shaken people are afraid of God. They will try to wish Him away, push Him aside, or act as if He has never been real. So they don’t rise with the intention of praying. They are frightened at the idea of being alone with God. They run away.
Pray. Be intentional. Live unshaken.
Prayer: God, help me come to You intentionally, knowing that You listen, You care, and You’re the only real help I’ll ever need. Faith always demonstrates strength.
