This is for all the dads have a wonderful day:
Dad
by Sherril Ann Bennett
One might’ve asked, upon first glance,
“Another ordinary man perchance?”
But, on second glance, one would’ve exclaimed,
“Ordinary --- Not a Chance!!!”
He never got violent or even mad.
He wouldn’t argue, And was rarely sad.
He was always so kind and loving
Just to know him made everyone glad.
And in his brown eyes, so big and bright,
Shown a most extraordinary light-
Shining so brightly from within
It could be seen on the darkest of nights.
A light that sat him apart, I recall,
In a world grown bitter, dark, and small—
An inner light of gracious love—
A gift from above-yet shared with all.
But then he left all that was bad
For he’d earned a place in heaven’s pad
But the memories of this Christian man
Will live forever, for he was my “Dad”.
