May Jesus fill us with his love and wisdom.
Many years ago, the Lord wanted me to learn about my brothers and sisters in the Protestant churches. To understand how people think and their faith. At the time I was living in Eastern Kentucky, and trust me there are many churches there. But over the next three years I spent time every Sunday going to services of a variety of different churches.
I came to a number of conclusions from the experience. One of those has to do with Core Belief. Although there's a variety of different thinking when it comes to other things that makes each church a little bit different on its own. The Core thinking of everyone was the same - and this included my own church which is the Catholic Church.
The Core thinking is this, Jesus was born of a human woman. He was born both man and God at the same time. He died on a cross for our sins. He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. And we have to be baptized and receive Christ in our hearts.
Now when it comes to all the other things, I typically will refer to them as politics. Because all the politics isn't something that's going to cause a person to go to heaven or hell it's just all the details. And these are where all our differences come from.
As far as our differences are concerned, I want to point out something simple that when they were building the Tower of Babel, it was God that chose to stir up the languages of all these people and have them go all their separate ways. It was God's choice to do these things, and he wasn't making it so that they all would fall from God, he just stirred up their languages.
So when we look at the division from the Catholic church and all the other churches that come along. We have to understand that God allows these things to take place, how do we learn if, we're not challenged. How do we learn deeper things that the Holy Spirit teaches to us, if we all think alike.
I don't see the divisions of the church as a negative thing, I see it as God's handiwork. To let us walk our different ways to learn different things and in the end come together as one.
Sure we can blame the devil, we can sit there and say it was his fault that the churches are all separated. But we have to realize that God's ways are above our own, and if we look at that simple thought that the devil had such great power to stir up the Tower of Babel, or to break up what God had brought together in the first place. Then I would say that we are the ones who are deceived by the devil. That the truth is it's God who separated us and it's God who we're going to come together with in the end.
