Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart. For Your lovingkindness [is] before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth. Psalm 26:2-3
You're a month into the new year. Take stock of what God has been doing in and around you. It's all too easy to lose sight of what it took to make you His, which is why God commanded His people to hold regular remembrances of His works, like the Passover (Exodus 12:14). Human nature is to forget the things worth remembering.
Look past the familiarity of the story. As surely as the lamb's blood provided cover for the Jews from the plague of death, so Christ's blood saved you from eternal damnation. And when God delivered His people, He was also looking down the road to the day when you would receive Him as Lord and Savior.
That's worth celebrating! Return to that place of wonder, reminding yourself of your need for God, the trust of a child relying on his dad for his needs (Matthew 18:3). Avoid saying, "I've seen too much, know too much, to ever be that innocent again." The moment you surrendered to God was the truest moment of your life. Trust its lessons.
Prayer: Father, never let the awe and wonder of what You did to save me become stale to me. Thank You for giving me life and eternity with You.
This reminded me of a song that I now share with you all my brothers & sisters in Christ!
