I'm not sure if this practice is used in other countries, but it is something I observed before I was saved; it has stuck with me ever since.
In the colder part of Australia, lambing season is early Spring; probably some of the coldest time of the year.
Some ewes die giving birth in the fields. Also some lambs die at birth for various reasons.
To cut losses the farmer will put an orphan lamb to a mother that has lost her lamb; the interesting thing is that unless the mother smells her lamb, she rejects it immediately. So the farmer will skin a dead lamb, take the skin and put it on the orphan, then put it to the ewe.
Because she smells her lamb, she accepts it; the lamb flourishes, and so the farmer has a better chance of prospering.
When a person receives Jesus as Lord and Saviour, God no longer sees the man, but He sees Jesus and His righteousness.
or he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.
Holy Bible : New Living Translation. Ro 3:26

And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife.
Holy Bible : New Living Translation. Ge 3:21
God no longer sees my sin and unrighteousness, but sees Christ's.
