Listen closely to my prayer, O LORD; hear my urgent cry. I will call to you whenever I'm in trouble, and you will answer me. Psalm 86:6-7 NLT
You can usually tell when a child is part of a loving, caring home by observing one thing: confidence. That child just knows that Mom and Dad care about him and that they will joyfully meet his needs, even before he says anything about them. The child also knows that his parents will defend and protect them against any perils this world throws his way.
Love always gives and protects. It’s just what love does. That’s what a good parent’s love looks like…and even more so with our heavenly Father’s love for us. That’s partly why the apostle John wrote, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: That if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14), and why another New Testament writer wrote, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Are you confident in God’s love for you and in His desire to provide for you and to protect you when you need it?
Prayer: God in heaven, I want to always approach You with humility but also with confidence, knowing that You have promised to hear me when I need something from You.
