Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
(Matthew 11:28 )
The Bible says that when Lord Jesus Christ was in this world, He healed the sick and the oppressed and went about doing good to the people. He cares for the people who are languishing alone in sickness. Once, when Lord Jesus Christ was ministering in the region of Gadarenes, multitudes of people surrounded Him. A woman with an issue of blood suffered for twelve years and she had spent all her money on physicians to cure but none could cure her. As the multitudes surrounded the Lord, it was impossible to meet and ask Him to heal her. So, she came up behind him and touched the hem of His garment. Immediately the flow of blood stopped! When the Lord came to know her sickness and that she was healed by touching Him said that her faith had made her well. She went away in joy and in peace (Luke 8:43-48).
In 1969, my father suffered with lung disease and both his lungs were badly affected. He would cough all the time and could not eat food. He became skin and bones. He would prop up a pillow against the wall and lean on it. His friend named Lionel would come and meet him everyday after work. As my father coughed, being unable to see my father suffering, he would weep over his agony. He would say, “My brother, this is all I can do for you. I cannot carry your sickness but I can weep over your agony.” He would try to feed my father some food with a spoon which he could not eat. Later, the Lord healed him and started using him mightily in the ministry.
In sickness, we suffer alone in life and nobody can suffer on our behalf. But there is One Person Who took all our sickness on Himself and suffered on the cross for us. Lord Jesus Christ is that Person and has carried all our sickness on the cross two thousand years ago and has destroyed the power of it.
Are you languishing in dreadful sickness in loneliness without any hope? Do not worry! The Lord Who carried your sickness on the cross will heal you. The Lord says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Yes, the Lord Who healed the woman with the issue of blood of twelve years in a moment will also heal you of sickness however dreadful it maybe. He is near you. Seek Him and He shall heal you. Peace and joy shall abound in your life.
