What's the use of trying to be
Something that you're not
Pretending that you are complete
Shows that you're a clot
It's only people that have sussed
While humble and contrite
Without the help of Jesus Christ
They can do no right.
Because you've done it your own way
You're in the mess you're in
You hide it with a mask of calm
You even wear a grin
Until you let the secret out
And pull away that mask
The churning will go on inside
Unless, His help, you ask.
Who cares if you have fallen foul
You're not the only one
The church is full of sinners who
Are shocked by things they've done
If only we would all be real
And show ourselves as weak
Then we would have a closer flock
Of God's beloved freaks.
