clairvoyance and christianity

Is clairvoyance a gift from God? He is the giver of skill. Can someone have this ability and be still be right with God? My thinking is currently that the skill is form God , but how it's used is by a persons choice? What do you think? I don't know if it is the same thing as having the gift of prophecy or not.

i dont mean bad things, as Lord would never reveal any such things that isnt useful for the person him self, of another person through the prophecy.

so i believe the same principles as in prophecy applies to this gift...

My opinion, clairvoyance the way the world accepts it is not a gift from God.
Prophecy, Discernment, Words of Wisdom and Knowledge are a result of the Holy Spirit imparting revelation to and through our spirit.

Take for example Nostradamus ; he used to do mind altering drugs and stare into a pot of boiling liquid. His hallucinations were written down and people have been taking them as prophecy ever since but if you ever read any of his quatrains you would see they are gibberish and can be twisted to say anything.

So on one hand you have the gifts of the Spirit manifest while abiding in the Vine. on the other you have a lost soul subject to the god of this world.

All the abilities humans seem to have have their first and foremost purpose to be used in, by, with our relationship to God. It seems that all our abilities are meant for our relationship with God.

I've been wondering if the enemy has these kind of powers - to give abilities, but it doesn't seem right.

According to Wikipedia, clairvoyance is included in the paranormal category and thus is not accepted by the scientific community. Satan only has the ability to produce counterfeit visions (see Mt 4:8;Lk 4:5). God alone produces genuine ones. Clairvoyance is not a gift of God, it is a demonic ruse.

I agree with them too. What is from God is pure... useful according to God's will. Sprits not from God wont do God's genuie work which the Holy spirit does.

A visions and etc are not from God that is where discernment comes in. Satan loves to imitate the things of God. We are lead by the Holy Spirit, new agers have "spirit guides" etc.

Many confuse the spiritual gifts of prophecy with word of knowledge.

We can see here that the HolySpirit not only revealed the wrong motives of Ananias and Saphira to Peter but He had Peter expose them openly to the other believers.

Understanding the Word is critical to the development of spiritual discernment, but such development takes time. Your profile says you came to Christ just this past August (2008). Time plus diligent Bible study and sitting at the feet of good teachers will bring you to the point of having discernment. Also, don't be afraid to depend on believers who've been around awhile - "For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisors make victory sure." (Prov 11:14 NIV)

There is a story in Acts 16:16-19; about a slave girl with divination. This particular power was from a demon.

There is of course a Spiritual gift called discernment, ( 1 Cor 12:10; ) but that is different from clairvoyance.
Even in today's society, palm-readings, horoscopes, Ouija boards, and fortune telling are popular and accepted by society (and some Christians).

to answer your question I it's yes, clairvoyance is a gift from God others who quickly shout and say that is from the devil and is a tool of evil only say so because they are scared or they do not understand how God gifts his children. @Boanerges, your argument is uneducated and full of hate I believe that you would be a smarter person do not use one piece of literature and 1 example ie Nostradamus as a cover allfor this argument because there are many more. That can be made from both sides. God does gift his children and if you have the gift of clairvoyance you have the gift of being so close to the Holy Spirit you can almost hear it but God does not give away his gifts and take them back so when an individual who has the free will that was given from God strays and uses his gift for the world it does not take away the origin of the gift giver. The devil May trick these people and lie to them to convince them to work against the father who bless them. because unfortunately only the devil the evil and the lost souls seem to understand the value of the gifted that God put right in front of his people's eyes.I am a Christian and I am a clairvoyant empath searI am a good person, a great individual, a leader amongst my peers and the counselor to any person who wants to speak to me because I am always willing to listen because I know that I have my gifts to help others. So when I hear other Christians tell me that my blessings are tools and traits of evil I pray for them. I am told by many of the faith and those withouthow much of a good heart i have and how close to God I must be for it is tempting to utilize these gifts as weapons and tools if I forget the will of God. All in all read, educate,and devote your self to the Lord and He will reveal himself to you and hopefully remind you the lessons you should already know about judgement on others in the words of ignorance. no one is entirely wrong in their posts but could just be coming from a wrong place in their heart.

Some people have an extraordinary ability to lie. Some have a superb ability to cheat. There are assassins and hit men that have murdered people who have
never been caught. Certain thieves and robbers are bad at their craft and get caught right away. Other have robbed dozens of store and banks and still
haven't gotten caught. Some adults have an almost supernatural ability to seduce under age juveniles.

I wonder if God gave them these skills? Personally I don't believe so.

Clairvoyance, IMO, is just Satan's counterfeit for the real gifts, the prophetic gifts:

The thing about clairvoyance though, is that it is often sought after by people who want power over others. I've been around more than a few people who had "familiar spirits" who could know things they shouldn't know. They always used this as a power play, a way to control other people (often subtly). That lust for power is the heart of witchcraft. Clairvoyance falls under the category of witchcraft to me. The true charisma (gifts) from God are always edifying to the church (the body), there's nothing sideways about them. They are also given by the Holy Spirit at his will. They are "Empowered by one and the same Spirit," the power is not in ourselves, it is in Him. Nothing evil comes about because of the working of the Spirit. There's much evil associated with clairvoyance.

If you've had any dabbling with clairvoyance, I would repent and ask God to forgive you and restore you. That's nasty stuff.

I see things before they happen & after. I see peoples faces & see bruises. I have asked a friend why he had his flashlight out during the day. He asked how did you know? We weren't near eachother at all. I'm sure I see Angel's. I pray a lot. I seek the Holy Spirit all day. I know what the Bible says about this so I've shied away from this gift when my Mom told me to stop talking about it when I was 4. I will see spirits upon people and all I can do is pray. I can believe the flashlight incident was for confirmation. I will pray about this. Is there anyone else like me? I see pain & hurting. I see pictures flash & they come true. How do I handle this? I am 44 now.

Hi Princess V.

I had never had supernatural gifts until I moved to a foreign country (I'm originally from the U.S) and then I began seeing many things that I did not wish to see. It was the beginning of a difficult and scary journey, but in the end, I was brought closer to the Lord, when I handed over my will and let him do the work. What you speak of sounds like divination to me and the bible speaks against this in several places.

The book of James and the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John )were what helped keep me sane during this time. Also, I developed a deep relationship with Jesus. Divination is scary and in my case there were lots of evil spirits involved. What truly broke this in the end was that one night as I was falling asleep I said the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). I didn't just say it, but cried out the words. That night I had a dream where God showed me what I needed to do to change and also delivered the verse Isiah 5:1-5 into a basket in my lap.

I hope this helps. I understand what you are going through, and there is nothing worse than when scary stuff like this happening and you wanting it to end. Giving your will over to the Lord and letting Jesus do the work is a big part of it.
