Some say the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams is making a monkey of himself with a half-baked apology to Charles Darwin for misunderstanding the author of "Origin of the Species" 126 years after his death.

Nevertheless, that's just what the Church of England [did September 14, 2008] – make an act of contrition to the godfather of evolution.

"Charles Darwin, 200 years from your birth [in 1809], the Church of England owes you an apology for misunderstanding you and, by getting our first reaction wrong, encouraging others to misunderstand you still," says the statement. "But the struggle for your reputation is not over yet, and the problem is not just your religious opponents but those who falsely claim you in support of their own interests."

The statement is written by the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Brown, the director of mission and public affairs of the Archbishops' Council, headed by Williams.

"People, and institutions, make mistakes and Christian people and churches are no exception," it continues. "When a big new idea emerges that changes the way people look at the world, it's easy to feel that every old idea, every certainty, is under attack and then to do battle against the new insights. The Church made that mistake with Galileo's astronomy and has since realized its error. Some Church people did it again in the 1860s with Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection. So it is important to think again about Darwin's impact on religious thinking, then and now."

This comes as no surprise.

I read an article many years ago in which it was stated that 62% of Anglican bishops (?-not certain they're called bishops) don't believe in God at all.

The fact that the church is apologizing to Darwin shows that it is prepared to be an arm of the state and no longer preach salvation except as a platitude.

At least the Archbishop of Canterbury and his team got something right. Let's think about Darwins theory of evolution. Things to note. It is not a science: it's a religion. It makes God a liar and a mockery of Jesus' death on a cross. How? Because by any theory of evolution, death came before sin. If death came before sin then death was not the result of sin. So if death is not the penalty of sin it must be the final state. So why did Jesus die?

What the Archbishop's apology does is proves he is a wolf in sheep's clothing, there for the purpose of devouring the flock. Evolution is not a science; its a religion that states:- since death came before sin then death is not the result of sin. Death is the final state. We have no need of a saviour because there is no resurrection. Another sect of the religion of evolution sees it another way. We have been evolving from microlife for five billion years so far. Given another few trillion years or whatever it takes we shall develop into a perfect eternal being, and we shall be gods.
I've got news for these people. One of the surest signs that Jesus is coming soon is the weakness of the earth's electro-magnetic field. True science has been measuring this for a long time and it is getting weaker all the time. We know that if it continues to lose strength at the present rate, then the harmful radiation from the sun will stop this planet from supporting life within two thousand years from now. The earth's electro-magnetic field is also a strong indicator of the age of the earth. Scientists have calculated that the field would have been too strong to have allowed life as we know it on earth even as recently as ten thousand years ago. Why do we not hear about this. Because there is a lot of so-called science based of false assumptions. The false assumption concerning the earth's electro magnetic field is that the universe is so old that because there is life on earth today which has taken five billion years to develop that the polarity of the earth changes every hundred thousand years or thereabout. These pseudo scientists will tell you that the polarity of the earth will definitely change in the fairly near future [ next thousand years or so] because that's what it has always done. But Christians should know better because God tells us it was created six thousand years ago and it was created to fulfill it's purpose and then it will be burned up with fervent heat as Peter predicts in his epistle - FJ

Spiritually dead

Rowan Williams is willing to apologise to a dead man but not to the living God. How sad. Yet more proof, as though we needed it, that the C of E is spiritually dead.
