Good Day everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas I'm posting this thread to hear about everyone's Christmas. What did you do? Where did you go? What did you get?
This year my husband and I spend Christmas Eve with his family. They are from Dominican Republic and a majority of latin countries celebrate Christmas Eve and not Christmas Day. So we spent the 24th house-hopping and seeing different parts of his enormous family! We didn't go to bed until 2:30 am.
Then Christmas day we woke up at 8 to drive over to my mom's house (about 2 hours away). We were very tired, but excited. We started out the day praying together and thanking God for his precious son. When we arrived at my mom's house, the whole family was divided None of them are Christians- I'm holding it down for my whole family. So my mom and sister got in a huge fight and my sister refused to come to the house and spend Christmas with us.
God is still good though. I have been very blessed either way. My whole world is falling down around, but I continue to stay strong in the Lord.
I got a Nintendo DS (I've wanted it for months!) and a radio, printer, ipod docking station, clothes, jewelry, and a lot of other things. I'm so grateful to have such awesome friends in my life and the best friend of all- Jesus!
This year I can honestly say I was in the true spirit of Christmas and really remembered why we celebrated Christmas all together. America is wrapped into all this vanity and makes nothing out of Christmas except presents. I really gave it my all this year to remember it's all about Jesus.
I heard something on the radio a few days ago and it was such a cool idea that when I finally have kids, I want to do it with them... when a musician was little, on Christmas morning his fmaily would gather around the breakfast table. Before he could even look at his presents or eat his morning meal, his dad would take out the bible and read everyone the Christmas story. It would only take about 15 minutes, but it showed the family that Jesus comes first before the presents.
It's such a simple concept but I think it's a really cool idea that they would honor God before doing anything else.
