"And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15 NKVJ

Joshua’s statement represents a choice you make every day when you get out of bed. It’s also a choice that makes you.

Jesus warned about one area of choice: “no one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money” (Luke 16:13 NIV). You choose whom you serve.

In Psalm 73 Asaph wrote about how some “lay claim to heaven” (73:9 NIV) with their mouths but leave the people around them “dismayed and confused” (v. 10 NLT). This hypocrisy is always a choice. Usually it starts with one small, seemingly insignificant concession—a white lie, the rounding of a financial amount in your favor, a few minutes of laziness at work, a thirty-second peek at a website.

Serving God starts with one small, seemingly insignificant choice as well—not withholding information when it inconveniences you, rounding a financial amount in someone else’s favor, working a few minutes overtime for free, installing accountability software. Every choice makes you.

“Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you.” John C. Maxwell

Prayer: Lord, help me make the right choices today choices that will help make me be the man You want me to be.

Hello Christ forever,
In my experience, I haven't been able to make choices unless the grace is there for me to do so. And when I am blessed with grace, I thank and praise God for his mercy. Blessings
