Hey guys!

My name is Luke, I’m a student at the University of Oxford, I’m currently writing an essay with regards to the question, ‘Whom did the Church of England serve between 700-1100 AD?’.

I myself, as an atheist, haven’t the adequate knowledge to answer that question yet. And there’s a REAL difference between researching St Bede the Venerable and other such figures, and actually conducting an interview with a prominent religious figure!

So here I am!
I’m looking for a person/persons to have a conversation with me regarding Christianity in general, focusing mainly on Bible history.
I know you guys will be able to help!

Thanks in advance!
Luke

Have you ever heard about picking up a Book? Do They still have a library at Oxford, :sob: It is called Research. It maybe Ancient, but it works, if they have not threw the Books out.:sob: You have to excuse me, I am Old School, I learn the hard and natural way, There was no "Internet", you caught a bus, and went to the reference reading section of The Library and look in the "DEWEY DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION System" and grab you a chair and set down and read.:sob:

You have to excuse me.

Sometimes I need a laugh, Like the boy's dad said; you need a "paper route" the little Boy said. "what is that"?:sob: A "PAPER ROUTE":sob: Give us a couple of years, they will not know what a "Library is Too! And do you think to ask about something in here between "700-1100 AD" in here. About " The Church of ENGLAND" and the Bible in the common Man's Language was not there, not until The Gutenberg came to be, The 1400's let alone a BIBLE. and then if you got caught with one, They would burn you to stake, your mama, your daddy, your wife, you kids and your dog if he could quote scripture.:sob:

Oxford, the Old girl ain't what she use to be.

Don't feel bad, this old man, needs a laugh every now and then.

I always wanted to go to "Oxford" or thought about going, if i could. But I had to pray to God to be just as Good as a "Oxford" Grad. And study just as hard even better. In the Field of Theological Studies, "Theology Proper".

Normally a Atheist, especially in the earlier years that studied about "Christology" ends up a "Theologian" that hides His "Degree' once he gets it at "Oxford" because of the stuff he had to agree too, in order to get a passing grade.

No I did not go to "Oxford" and yes I am a 'Citizen of the United States of America" right where The Providence of GOD planted me.

And excuse my english, I am ghetto born, in the hood, and still have the grass roots Vernacular. "De'troit" for french. "city of trees".

Dear LukeFrancis,
Welcome to an online community of believers in Christ Jesus called Talk Jesus!
A more appropriate location for your post is in the forum called for Introduction and also the from for Questions about Christianity

Let me know which forum you'd like me to move this thread to. Otherwise, I hope that in your research that you will find that being an Atheist requires greater faith then one does in believing in Jesus Christ. ;)

Not withstanding the welcome here by one of my dear brothers in Christ Jesus, Ploughboy, you are welcome to ask away, and hopefully you will find someone willing to save you the time of having to perform any indebt research!

Again, be welcomed.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.

‘Whom did the Church of England serve between 700-1100 AD?’.
My history teaches me that there was no church of England - there was only the church of Rome.
The Bishop of Rome (by this time had become Pontus Maximus, the Papacy) ruled all other bishops throughout Roman Christendom.
There was only the church of Rome from Ireland to Syria.

@LukeFrancis

Greetings Luke,

that's a strange question, "Whom did the Church of England serve between 700-1100 AD?"

Do you mind elaborating a bit for me?
My mind is thinking...'who does the Church serve?'
and, 'would it be any different back then to any other time?'
And as fellow Member, Waggles @Waggles pointed out, there was no 'Church of England' back then.
One of those trick questions you need a degree to work out!! Study is fun... if you like stretching your brain to places you didn't know it would go!!

Please reply to Nick @Christ4Ever regarding moving this thread to another place on the forums. If you are not sure about it let us know and we will move it to where it might be best.
Enjoy your studies, Luke.

Jesus is the Lord

Bless you ....><>
