Book of Life

This verse could be viewed as saying that everyone has a part in the book of life.

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

This verse is worded kinda funny:

Philippians 4:3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. ( KJV )

Philippians 4:3 yea, I ask thee also, true yokefellow, assist them, who have contended along with me in the glad tidings, with Clement also, and my other fellow-labourers, whose names are in the book of life. ( Darby Bible 1889 )

  • Sorry, but that is a pure secular / carnal response!
  • The promise of Revelation 3:5 is directed to believers, who are secure in their salvation. In contrast, the warning of Revelation 22:19 is directed to unbelievers, who, rather than change their hearts toward God, attempt to change God’s Word to suit themselves
Sunday:
  1. B-A-C, I think I mis-read you statement, "You can't blot out or remove what isn't there to blot or remove", At least I hope that is what I did and I apologize.
  2. Blot out means to never have allowed in, not removed!
  3. Romans 13:8 means that those , not in the BOL to begin with (or blotted out) will worship the beast!

Why would you quote the Darby bible of all translations?

Don't some of the other translations word the verse very similarly to the Darby Translation? The point is, that Paul was asking the Philippians to assist those whose names are in the Book of Life, and if everyone starts out in the Book of Life until they "reject" Christ as Grace suggested, it could throw some confusion on things for the Philippians because there would be unbelievers also in the Book of Life that haven't "rejected" Christ yet. I look at a lot of translations just to see how differently things were translated/interpreted.

  • Do you accuse everyone that does not agree with you as secular/carnal?

How does that change anything? You have to be in something before you can be blotted out, period! You can not blott out something that is not already there.

Where in Romans 13:8 does it talk about being blotted out?
How do you come up with your definition of BLOT OUT?

I have looked at quite a few different dictionaries and can't find not one single entry that matches RJs definition for the term "blot out".

Pardon me for interrupting, but in post #80 it appears you were dealing with Travis' Rev. 13:8 reference, not Rom 13:8. Such oversights are excusable.

While here about that, I have noticed for example FOI responses (Freedom of Information Act) typically blot out what was written so as to protect vital knowledge not applicable to a request for knowledge, such as names of witnesses living under identity protection by direction of a judge. The presence of a blot indicates information existed, albeit without full knowledge. Therefore, what is blotted out is no longer accessible even though once written. In essence that knowledge is limited to some specific person(s), so will not be a matter of public knowledge. Any name can be written for whatever reason, then the name itself can be blotted out as useless.

So, in my estimation, whether a name is not written, or a name is blotted out, in both instances the person of interest is regarded as not written, "blotted out" meaning that whatever identity a person had, it no longer exists, as though never written.
